Protesters know this even if they can't put it into words. They're aware that one killing by a cop is a drop in the bucket compared to the hundreds of black on black murders, but they don't know how to make things better.
The dream is that somehow 'the white man' will step in and solve the problem. "Marching" worked in the 60's but it's not the answer for our time... There are answers... good people can figure this one out.
You can't shoot someone for simply being armed.
"And I would shoot as often as necessary to render the assailant harmless."
He was harmless when he was shot and on the ground. In this case, apparently still breathing was considered a threat.
The white man cannot come in and solve any of the black’s problems. They must do it themselves. Unfortunately it will take a long time to do that.
