I recall after the Clinton admin left office, former SoS Mattie the maid and BJ gaves speeches. IIRC, Mattie’s was at Georgetown U.

Both spoke about the US needing to handle other nations with care, as WE, the US, would be a 3rd world nation one day and would need to depend on the then superpowers to be nice to us.

Then, with Obama’s fundamentally changing remarks in 2008, I think the progressives have had a long-range plan for a long time to take the US down from its superpower status.

They do it bits at a time, but look at how much the nation has suffered under various Dem prez’s since Carter.

The next prez will inherit a mess. With Carter, we are still feeling ramifications. It will take decades and maybe even a century or more to heal from the Obama administration — if the nation ever can.

Part of the whole Global Socialist/One World/New World Order crowd's utopia is that all have and are treated equally. From the days of Mandell House and the League of Nations, they have been working toward a global government, and in the minds of the modern Liberal Globalist, equality is achieved by making those who sat on high equally low to the average, without regard for the individuals involved. It keeps the world right where they want it, with entire populations in a constant state of ever changing victimhood, with neither equity nor equality, enslaved by the constantly changing missives of the State.

If a nation which is founded on Liberty and Justice for All is prominent in the world, then it makes the rest look bad, especially if it is prosperous.

Besides, these people fancy themselves immune to the penance they would impose on lesser beings for their own sins and envision themselves as an elite class who will not have to (and don't) live by the rules they would impose.
