NATO should have been disbanded in 1992. Now our "tripwire" includes such regimes as Turkey and Albania. Its security theater and a very dangerous arrangement.

I never thought I would ever agree with this point of view, but I have to admit it now. I agree fully. NATO has to go. It has become a welfare program, a super-Marshall plan for Europe to continually milk USA taxpayers and ensure a steady supply of American graves in their cemeteries.

Those miserable Turks should never have been admitted. They are only friendly and "modern" as long as their military keeps their Islamists in check and they are now failing to do so.

I guess it took an Islamo-Marxist child in our White House to highlight this problem. Ironically, President DingleBarry makes the Russians look like friendlies now. There is no way for Odumbo to paint a happy face on what he has wrought throughout the world. Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Egypt, Afghanistan, Turkey, the list is endless.

It's popcorn time because I would bet that something is going to happen in Turkey. Either the military executes a coup and takes that Erdogan out, or Russian agents do it themselves. Or maybe something entirely different that we can't yet imagine. I'm personally rooting for Erdogan to disappear so we can watch Odumbo has a nervous breakdown.

They could easily steamroll over Georgia and invade Turkey.

That’s a nice day dream to have but Putin and his cronies would personally lose billions attacking NATO. Not going to happen.

Obama agrees with both you guys

Hardly. Obama has no interest in NATO and is busy withdrawing the US from the ME while he empowers Iran.

Putin, Obama and death to America Iran. You keep good company, FRiend.

Do you really think NATO will step in to defend Turkey?

“Somebody is bankrolling Putin during this war. Russia’s GDP equals that of Italy. Does anyone think Italy could afford such military adventures?”

Russia doesn’t have Italy’s welfare state.

Hey dragnet2, your posts are terrible. I mean really and truly awful. Not the slightest bit informative, not interesting, not well written and just gibberish.

You endlessly compare apples to oranges as you did here again.

You're worried about the Russian economy when there are 95,000,0000 Americans out of work, while choking under 19 trillion in debt, with upwards of 30 million in the country illegally? Really?

Huh? Again, you make nonsensical comparisons. Russia's economy is contracting which means it can't sustain it's current military expenditures for much longer without risking serious domestic problems. Russia is FAR more unhealthy than the US is by almost every measurement. Last I checked alcoholism, abortion, etc, is still running rampant. Russia is nearly back to being a totalitarian government with almost no freedom of the press, assembly, etc. Russia is almost entirely dependent on oil/gas exports, which means when prices are low like this their economy is subject to severe shocks. The list goes on.

This is like you believing Obama/U.S., are genuinely concerned about Russia violating Turkey's borders as our own sovereign borders get violated 10,000 times per day.

This idiotic comparison AGAIN? Seriously. That illegal immigrants continue to come into this country is a major problem which I am sure we all agree needs to end. However that problem has NOTHING to do with Russia flying warplanes over Turkey repeatedly without permission. These things are not comparable - they are apples and oranges.

Iran of 2015 is very different than Iran of 1979. Right now they’re focused on fighting Sunnis vs Shiite conflict in the Middle East.

Here is a reply I made on the subject on another thread. It is not an admonishment, it is simply an explanation why I believe that it is a mistake to use the term daesh, even if it is viewed as a pejorative in the moslem mind.

To: Cementjungle

I think that is a mistake.

The average person is going to see/hear “Daesh,” and unless they dig, which the average person won’t, they are not going to know or understand the meaning.

On the other hand, Islam is now a pretty well known quantity, and with the exception of the brain dead liberals, it is viewed, as it should be, as evil; which it is, despite the sentiments of the author.

I agree with most of your post - but the Russians are not as weak as you think..

The US Air Force would grind Ivan back to the stone ages if we had to.. but they are not weak..

Russia would roll thru turkey in a week if they wanted to..

Russia is the only country fighting against muslims right now and I support that.. and if that makes me bad then so be it.. our president and government is supporting the enemy and it’s disgusting.

You sound like the communists who used to attack NATO. How much personal experience do you have with NATO?

Sorry, but name-calling isn't an argument. I probably have as much NATO experience as you do. Let me ask - what Is your justification for the continued existence of NATO? Russia itself, or is it Putin? If its Putin, why was NATO then expanded in the 1990's after the fall of the Soviet Union - When Russia was on its knees? If it is Russia itself, then you are saying the country is inherently evil regardless of the government or whether they are Marxist or not - and therefore never can be trusted, and will always be an enemy. The logical conclusion of that position then is that Russia must be emasculated to change its natural inclinations towards evil. BTW - that's exactly what Putin tells the Russians is the US and NATO's ultimate goals. So yours is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I'll say it again - Western Europe, to source of Western Christian Culture, is committing social suicide, under the cover of the present monetary and security system of which NATO is a part. This time, it is not caused by Russia.

Putin is right. Our muslims in the white house are happy that Turkey went all muslim again. Isis IS Islam, without all the head fakes. Turkey is where the muslims ended up last worldwide jihad, I think. They are just staging where they can pick up where they left off.

“Our sovereign borders are violated by millions from God knows where during war time, leaving hundreds of thousands of American victims.

How come you and Obama not all concerned with that?”

Dragnet, again, I ask, what are you talking about?

This thread is not about the topic that you think it is.

There are many other threads on immigration and Syrian refugees and our borders. Maybe you should go over there.

***And Turkey means business. They won’t tolerate what the KGB thug Putin is doing. Maybe if we had a real leader as President, we wouldn’t be allowing Putin to get away with the crap he is directing against us. Or his invasion of Ukraine and seizure of Crimea.***

First of all, Erdogan is an Islamic extremist who wants to begin the caliphate with the center of it in Turkey, so I don’t know why you are so supportive of that bastard.

As far as allowing Putin to get away with crap he’s directing against us? Or his seizure of Crimea and going into Ukraine tell me, who has caused more world-wide destruction/instability Putin or the combo of Bush/mainly Obama with their excursions into Iraq, Egypt, Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya, Syria, and cuddling up with Iran and Turkey I would have to say the US has caused more destabilization in the World than in other country in the World at this point.

If we had been serious under Bush in actually eradicating Islam we wouldn’t be in this mess right now. We would have wiped Saudi Arabia off the map 1st. And we would have never even considered electing someone with the name Barack Hussein Obama.

Now before I get slammed for taking the side of a KGB communist, which I am not, just remember we have an Islamist loving, terrorist supporting President, Justice Dept.,DOD, HS and apparently mostly Islamist supporting congress and Senate, both parties. At this moment in history someone tell me which is worse?

Russia would roll thru turkey in a week if they wanted to..

No, no actually they could not. Turkey has about 600,000 active military personnel and are generally a first world military (up to NATO standards). Russia has about 800,000 active military personnel with only about a 1/4th at first world standards (if that). As Russia would be the invading force they would need enormous force projection ability - and Russia does not have this. Force projection capability is what sets the US, France and the UK apart from most other nations - especially the US of course.

No Russia could not roll through Turkey. If they were actually going to fight that war they'd either need to use their nukes or have months of conscription, moving equipment into theater, etc. And of course Turkey would see all that going on and do the same, only it would be easier for them.

***Lol, Russia does not have the means to declare and enforce a no fly zone over Syria. The US could do it, but not Russia.

Sorry for the Putanista’s reading this, but Russia’s military isn’t really all that strong. Only a fraction of it is considered 1st world and even Turkey could chase them out of Syria is they wanted.***

I have a feeling before this over you’re not going to think this so “lol.” YOUR politicians and YOUR military isn’t going to protect you from IS. Hell, for the first time in American military history we are actually dropping leaflets warning the ENEMY to leave the area we are about to bomb! Go back and read that again Mr. Longbow. Where’s our leaflets telling us the only “refugees” being let into our country are SUNNI, the only ones in Syria and Iraq who are not being displaced!
