Rubio's Growing Credibility Gap
Conservative Review ^ | 10-08-2015 | Jeffrey Lord

“I think it’s just reflective of what’s been going on for the past month or so and the way the race, at least in the establishment lane, has shifted. It’s really Jeb or Marco now.”

Thus spoke an “anonymous” Bush donor, quoted in Politico. The edgy and unidentified Bushie inadvertently confessed that all those Establishment types really do consider Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) as one of their own. Apparently his Tea Party upset of then-GOP Establishment Governor Charlie Crist was not what it seemed.

Senator Rubio has impressed many on the campaign trail. Without doubt his foreign policy concentration is getting him notice and plaudits. But the off-hand, furtive nature of that Bush donor’s remark, combined with the increasing tempo of the battle between frontrunner Donald Trump and Rubio—the latter dismissing Trump supporters as followers of a “freak show”—illustrates just how far Rubio himself has strayed from the Tea Party and the furious-at-Washington base of the party.

First it was the Gang of Eight. Which brought the news that New York’s famously lefty Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), now next in line to replace Harry Reid as the Democratic Senate Leader, was claiming credit for bringing Rubio into the so-called “comprehensive immigration” game (aka amnesty for illegals). In April of this year, The Washington Examiner noted, “Now, Rubio freely admits his approach to immigration reform simply could not work.” Yet as Breitbart headlined this past August:

MARCO RUBIO TRIES TO SELL GANG OF EIGHT TALKING POINTS TO NEW HAMPSHIRE VOTERS -

The elites want to impose a no-fly zone over Syria to protect Islamists and get into a war with Russia? Because that's what I remember most about Rubio's foreign policy suggestions.

Before he became a Senator, Marco Rubio had been the Speaker of the Florida House.

And in that role Marco established a long record of siding with illegal aliens and killing any bills that tried to address the issue.

Marco Rubio is a fraud who duped a lot of voters into believing he was tea party. He is and always has been a Gang of Eight style establishment hack.

I’ve never known a politician to speak as fast as Rubio. That fact alone makes me listen, but for me, it’s Trump and/or Cruz.

He’s sure had Levin, Limbaugh and Hannity eating out of his hand at times.

Hannity I can understand because he’s working with an 80 watt bulb, but I would have given the other two a bit more credit. Apparently without them deserving it.

It is what is is, I guess.

OTOH, the three whom you mentioned are trying to appear to be "unbiased".

His membership in the gang of eight leaves no doubt that he’s a bought and paid for member of the GOPe.

He’s absolutely not to be trusted. Besides he looks and sounds like he should be running for HS class president.

they no fly zone was a stupid idea. They think it work so well against Iraq, then they could repeat it against Russia.

There are only four viable candidates.

Rubio is going to be the Establishment/moderate candidate, Cruz is the conservative candidate, Trump is Trump, Carson is the low information candidate.

What's his relationship with Allen West, if any?

Did he play some role in undermining his influence and his redistricting? Perhaps with Jeb's help?

No doubt about it though, he is one slick SOB. Wouldn't trust him for a weather report.

If the Muslim-Mexican invasion enthusiasts trust Rubio to bring more Mexicans and Muslims into the U.S., then so do I.

You must be a youngin. Hubert Humphrey spoke a mile a minute and accelerated from there when he didn’t know what he was talking about.

Carson is slipping. His fifteen minutes are up. People are realizing that politically he’s just too shallow. Brilliant doctor, but not presidential material. Would love to have him in a cabinet post, but nothing beyond that. His foreign policy ideas are lacking to put it mildly and he’s on the wrong side of the second amendment and immigration.

“He’s sure had Levin, Limbaugh and Hannity eating out of his hand at times.”

There aren’t too many times when Rush literally SCARED ME by appearing to be ‘slipping’, but his GLOWING REMARKS over Rubio earlier this year was one of them.

Rubio didn’t just support the 2013 Amnesty push, HE LED IT, at least on the Republican side - where a lot of older, more feeble, Republicans simply got swayed. That bill came DAMN CLOSE to being law.

Rush fought that bill with everything he had...but when Rubio gave his announcement speech about how great it is to be an American and how his father had to dodge bullets to get here (even though not true), RUSH WAS GLOWING!. It was as though 2013 never happened.

It was true love. Dondi had Rush mesmerized.

I don’t know about that but it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that Rubio had a role in carving up Allen West’s district.
