Former Florida governor is spending more than twice as much as any other candidate, according to new data With a full year left until the 2016 presidential election it's still unclear who will emerge the winner. But when it comes to millions spent on TV ads, one candidate has already taken the top spot: Jeb Bush.
However, other than some gift baskets from local stations in Iowa and New Hampshire, the former Florida governor has little to show for it, with poll numbers stubbornly stuck in the single digits.
Bush and his supporters have so far spent an eye-popping $20 million in TV commercials during the 2016 presidential race - more than twice as much as any other candidate, according to ad-spending data from NBC partner SMG Delta. The bulk - $19.5 million - was spent by his Super PAC, Right to Rise.

Have somebody iron your damn shirt, man. What does that wife of yours do anyway?
Every time I see a Jeb ad it makes me angry.
SuperPAC Right to Rise blows almost 20% of the much bally-hooed $103 million juggernaut fund that was to intimidate and crush Jeb’s GOP opponents.
20% up in smoke before any primary.
And what have they gained? A new restart “Jeb can Fix it!” and a really cool bus.
After the 40% pay cut for the campaign grunts, Jeb just might have to look for illegal aliens to work for free, as an Act of Love.
LOL, LOL
They get a cut of everything if they place the ad in TV, Radio or Print or Web.
More like 75. I'm over 50 myself, but most 70 year olds I know are on the internet and don't watch the news.
The only people I know that watch the news on TV are 79 and 84.
What if it is a turd sandwich made with Asiago cheese on a pretzel bun?
Well, in that case may....no.
Fixed it!
Jeb is following the same ruinous path that took out Gov. Scott Walker. Huge expenditures early in a fledgling campaign on extravagant infrastructure, numerous paid staff and TV media buys lead to a disastrous cash burn rate that is inevitably unsustainable. Jeb’s major donors have been made to look like fools and they aren’t happy about it. Marco Rubio will be Plan B for the GOPe.
Better be careful with that suggestion - they might just go for it.
“I’m not a nattering nabob of negativism like Trump is!”
Yep, spend it now and there will be just that less money to knock off a conservative in a GOP floor fight at the convention.
How does money help at convention time?
Problem is that we are on to them and they can go ahead and spend the money to try and convince us but it ain't gonna work.
Is that the guy who created the “Americana” ad with the kid running across fields in Great Britain? That was funny
Bush’s ads are so pathetic that I suspect they might actually have a negative impact on his poll numbers. Some of his ads are so lame they scream, “I’m clearly someone whom you do not want to vote for.”
“I could see a thousand ads for turd sandwiches. Iâm still not eating turd sandwiches.”
Even worse for turd sandwich ads, every time someone sees one, it probably just reinforces the idea of just how unappetizing turd sandwiches really are.
“Do Jebâs consultants/staff get paid a percentage of the TV buys?”
If not them, certainly their ad agency gets a percentage for “placing” the ads, and I’ve read that there’s some self-dealing between some of Jeb’s staff and some of the contracting companies they use.
Dang. Give the money to charity and do something worthwhile.
