Louisville Rep. Denny Butler switches party affiliation to GOP [Bevin effect]

Rep. Denny Butler of Louisville has switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican.

The impetus for Butler’s decision to move from the Democratic ranks to the Republican column may stem from retiring Rep. Larry Clark’s endorsement of Alan Gentry in the Democratic primary to replace him in the 46th House District...

“I know there’s been a, sort of a feud down there in the district that Larry Clark represented,” Stumbo said at the Kentucky Association of Counties conference in Lexington. “I assume that has something to do with it, but I hope that he will reconsider. He comes from a very long line of Democrats.”

“I’ll wait to see what he has to say about it,” Stumbo added, noting he has a call in to the lawmaker.

Stumbo, D-Prestonsburg, he has heard rumors of other Democrats looking to join the House GOP caucus, but he believes Butler’s decision has more to do “with that political situation in Louisville than it is an effort by Republicans to reach out to members.”

... Senate President Robert Stivers, however, said he has been aware of talks between Butler and House Republicans “for a while — the definite date I can’t say.”

“We welcome Denny over, but I don’t think he’ll be the last one,” Stivers said

Asked whether the House could be in Republican hands by the time the session starts in January, Stivers said, “There’s always a chance. It’s kind of like forecasting the weather.”

The change in registration moves the GOP one spot closer to controlling the state House, which has been in the hands of the Democratic Party since 1921. The move from Butler shifts Democratic control in the House to a 53-47 lead.

Leary of people "switching parties" parties like this - questionable how genuine it is when this happens, of course. However, it does make for very amusing political theater...how amusing it would be if Stumbo is out of the Speaker's chair before the session even starts next January from people flying the coop and seeing the writing on the walls after this last election.

Unfortunately many of them have no decency and can switch parties to GET ELECTED AGAIN, one can say they are not STUPID. But they are still Democrats soon to be called a RINO.

I remember watching that happen, and spoke out about it then. I was steaming. No one would believe me, they cheered with each cross over. What didn't they see or learn about wolves in sheep clothing?

So here we are weeding those wolves out one by one and they are on a rampage, in fact they totally run the GOPe, but it's fun to watch their heads spinning trying to stay in control......haha it's over for them and they know it.

You're insight is correct. Since the GOPEs are less and less able to maintain their RINO base through elections, they'll do so through Democrat defections.

And as we all know, just as with once a muslim always a muslim (the alternative is to become an apostate which merits death according to the ROT (Religion of Terror), once a Socialist Democrat always a Socialist Democrat (which of course is not a problem to the GOPEs).

Glad you got my point. I am still steaming at the idiocy of the American Voter, most of the Democrats of course and you can't tell them anything, they know it all, and have to vote D's in come hell or high water.

Trouble is we are now deep in the HELL and HIGH Water because of how they voted. They deserve every bit of misery that has overtaken America. WE DON'T.

But you can bet that those DUMB ASS Democrat Voters expect US to clean it up by heaping the GUILT TRIP on us.
