The teacher, who's been on the job for just a few months, gave the in-class assignment to students in her two World Civics classes at Salem Junior High School in Salem, Utah, on Wednesday. About 60 students received the assignment, which required them to create a "neat, colored, professional" poster for the terrorist group, to "help students better understand the goals of terrorist groups and the methods they use to gain support," the assignment read.
The possibility of having to search for ISIS recruiting material on the web at a time when officials are looking to detect potential threats was alarming, Langston said.
"She did this innocently, she's a naive young teacher," Hiskey said. "She wants to do the right thing."

I dunno. I remember one very stupid, embarrassing thing that I did on my first job. It was as a newly minted radio DJ. That job is broad enough for a newby to say some very unfortunate things on the air. But, luckily for me, my boss and the radio station did not can me and I went on to be very successful in the field.
Since when are we going to allow anything but the American values of teaching being brought into our schools?
This teacher knew exactly what she was doing, good for her that she isn’t teaching my grandson, I would have shoved that crap up her butt and down her throat....and gladly paid the price of bailing myself out of jail....

Classic literature is no longer in the curriculum;
If that means no one has to read “Rime of the Ancient Mariner” anymore, I’m all for it. Toss out “Moby Dick,” “A Tale of Two Cities,” and “Oliver Twist,” too.
I’d have them read “Catch-22,” anything by John Barth, Sinclair Lewis, maybe even F Scott Fitzgerald. And for advance placement, the short stories of Franz Kafka.
In a better America this teacher would be fired!

Understanding the goals of terrorist groups REQUIRES research, not drawing.
That alone should get this teacher bounced. This isn't learning at all, it's babysitting and coloring.
She looks like she enjoys her work -- teaching whatever it is that "Health Teachers" teach kids these days.

Her "learning exercise" should be to complete her own assignment using nothing but the Koran, and then write an analysis of the fundamental terrorism of Islam itself and the terroristic beliefs of ALL Muslims.
I think they double as lunch room supervisors.
No one is that naïve.
What struck me is that they have 18 Special Ed teachers.

Well, DUH! Happened in Utah. Could NEVER happen in a Red State, like Texas, where I live. Thank goodness too.
