When are police going to learn that there are downsides to a surveillance state? < /sarc>
San Francisco?
Did he reject their advances?
It's getting so someone can't even destroy someone else's property and run away from the cops anymore!
There is absolutely nothing poor, sweet, gentle, little Stanislav could have done to avoid this horrible, unthinkable tragedy.
Or was there . . .
Not saying the beat down was justified. But it was expected.
When will thugs, punks and teens ever learn that acting out and living the ghetto lifestyle is dangerous?
So that’s the standard now? Don’t do anything wrong or cops will beat you to death or leave you permanently disabled? Why have a court system at all, just let cops execute the sentence on the spot.
Because they never make a mistake or abuse their power.
These two cops need to be charged.
Yes, resisting arrest (the chase), was wrong, what Stanislov did was wrong and what these cops did was wrong as well.
It was 10 minutes into the video before the ambulance was called.
No excuse for this over reaction.
Name of the victim does not sound black.
Nothing to see here, move along.
yeah, he could move out of a police state. These are jack-booted street thugs with badges. There is no excuse for this summary beating. Courts determine sentences, not cops. He put up no resistance and you can’t find a single video cell to refute that.

Now more than three years after being almost beaten to death, this guy’s case is finally being settled out of court for an undisclosed amount of money with none of the CHP officers being punished. Once again, the government sweeps the problem under the rug and pays off the defendant!
If the police act this way does it not in some measure justify trying to escape?
It is the taxpayers who get punished, not the real offenders. Disheartening.
Could be from Chechnya.
.
Dang! But by the name, he’s european, so, no deadly riots and looting will take place.
I would think so, but would anyone have believed him? That camera is the only proof in this case.
Looks like he lay down flat for a few seconds after he was tackled - then they started beating him.
I wonder how easy it is to lie still when men are beating you with nightsticks, and to put your hands behind your back instead of over your head.
In fact, he stops running a second before he is tackled, as though he decides flight and struggle aren’t going to work.
I’d still call the tackle fair, but nothing that follows.
I’ve known cops, a good friend was a LAPD Commander, rode along with cops, and was almost one myself. As a cop you’re trained to deal in a disciplined fashion with ‘situations’ that you are expected to encounter on the job. It’s a tough job, one of the toughest there is because you are expected to place aside your emotions in dealing with stressful ‘situations’. Most cops are able to do so. I knew I couldn’t and chose another vocation. These cops were not, unfortunately.
Once the perp was tackled and not resisting it was over... period! Cuff em and stuff em. Whether or not he “deserved it” has nothing to do with doing your job as a cop. He only “deserves” what his actions at that moment dictate. The justice system will take care of punishment. As Trump says... “We are a nation of laws” and this is not the law as it is written, this is undisciplined cops taking out their frustrations, legitimate or not, on the perp who’s present actions did not warrant such a response. It’s a shame as actions like this hurt the force and the city will pay large monetary damages as a result. BTW I think cameras for police work is, overall, good for all, including the police.
I have to assume you did not watch the video.
“It is the taxpayers who get punished, not the real offenders. Disheartening.”
Yes, but what’s really disheartening is that this perp will be permanently disable for the rest of his life. That seems to be an unusually harsh reality given what he did. These deputies need to be tried for civil rights violations and serve jail terms. Until the cops understand that there WILL ALWAYS be consequences for this kind of behavior, it will continue. To most cops today, there seems to be little or no value placed on human life.
