The ONLY way in a trillion years Obama would do something nice for Israel would be by stabbing Lady Liberty in the back.
And THAT is what this is.
I was thinking the same thing. Normally Obama doesn't have much use for Israel, but in those cases where he does, it's always when Israeli interests or actions somehow harm the United States. In other words, it's OK to benefit the Little Satan as long as the Great Satan suffers more.
Of course, there's also the fact that there's a Presidential election coming up, and there's nothing like freeing a spy for Israel under his watch to get the donations coming in from well-healed Jewish Democrats for Obama's heir apparent Hillary.
