Politico reported earlier in the evening that a pro-Kasich super PAC was planning to unload $2.5 million or more to take down Trump, the Republican front-runner, in New Hampshire.
This prompted a dozen-tweet barrage by Trump against Kasich, ripping the PAC's attack as "pathetic" and calling the governor a "dud" over the report, among many other things.

The super PAC, New Day for America, published a letter from The Trump Organization's lawyer warning that Trump would promptly seek "legal action" against the committee if its ads lied about Trump.
"It has come to my attention that you plan on producing and disseminating certain radio, television, and newspaper advertisements directly and personally attacking my client," Trump's lawyer, Alan Garten, wrote in the letter, which was also addressed to the Kasich campaign.
"Please be advised that in the event your ads contain any false, misleading, defamatory or otherwise tortious statements or representations concerning Mr. Trump's business or his brand, we will not hesitate to seek immediate legal action," it continued.
The letter concluded: "Please be guided accordingly."
The letter was similar in nature to a September cease-in-desist letter The Trump Organization sent to a conservative group, the Club for Growth, that ran attack ads against Trump in Iowa. Some eyebrows were raised because the letter was sent from Trump's corporation rather than from his campaign.

In OH, we've been saying it since Kasich became governor. Supposedly, he started his political career as a conservative in DC. But now? He's one of the most bought and paid for pols there is.
In OH, he's undermined the conservative state legislature, in favor of his deep pocket donors, every chance he gets. I'd worry that the backstabbers might try to push Kasich as a "Plan B" if they can steal the nomination.

Make no mistake, candidates like Graham, Kasich, Rubio, Christie and Pataki were put into this race for one reason and one reason only, to dilute the vote and allow Jeb! to walk with the nomination. They were supposed to allow Jeb! to run the table in winner take all states while he won a majority of the vote with 25%. Vote dilution has hit the crapper because of Trump’s broader appeal. Now, they are using their PAC’s to attack and destroy any potential conservative challenger.

Trump didn’t say Kasich couldn’t do it. He said if Kasich lies, they’ll sue. About damn time, so many lies anymore and no one does anything. Great example, McDaniel in MS, they said he was with KKK, that he was behind the leaked photo of Cochran’s bedridden wife, etc. And the Cochran campaign never had to answer for it.
Free speech doesn’t mean you can defame the opponent.
Trump supporters are a higher standard...we respect our candidate and wouldn't do that to him....

Yes, I am serious. Actions that we would rightfully condemn in another politician (Hillary an egregious example) are excused for Trump. Inconvenient ... but truth nonetheless.
