Dalai Lama says God will not help us in the wake of ISIS Paris attack because 'humans have created this problem and we cannot solve it through prayers'

Spiritual leader said there was 'no basis or justification for killing others' Said rise of suicide bombings could not be countered 'only through prayer' 80-year-old spoke out after terrorists murdered 129 people in Paris attacks

The Tibetan spiritual leader said the rise of suicide bombings could not be countered 'only through prayers' and described the terrorists as 'short-sighted'.

He spoke out after extremists went on the rampage through Paris in an attack which included suicide bombs at the Stade de France, mass shootings at bars and restaurants and the slaughter of 89 music fans at the Bataclan theatre.

The 80-year-old told DW: 'We cannot solve this problem only through prayers. I am a Buddhist and I believe in praying. But humans have created this problem, and now we are asking God to solve it. It is illogical. God would say, solve it yourself because you created it in the first place.

'We need a systematic approach to foster humanistic values, of oneness and harmony. If we start doing it now, there is hope that this century will be different from the previous one. It is in everybody's interest.

So let us work for peace within our families and society, and not expect help from God, Buddha or the governments.'

The Buddhist, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989, said that if 'serious attempts' were not made to achieve peace, 'we will continue to see a replay of the mayhem humanity experienced in the 20th century'.

He described the terrorists as 'short-sighted' adding that there was 'no basis or justification for killing others'.

Hey Dal...got some news for you about GOD...

Philippians 4 Amplified Bible (AMP)

6 Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.

7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].

Hello Dalai and thanks for nuthin’!

He's right - we have Free Will and The Evil One reigns. If we could pray it away, we could also negate the need for Jesus to return. I guess there are some "Christians" who think we can still act our way into His Good Graces and ignore that God deemed that we couldn't so He needed to be sacrificed, but those who believe in the whole content/context of the Bible will agree with the Dalai Lama on this.

it’s a weird world where the Dalai Lama has more balls than the US president.

If America fails, it is not because of what Christians did or did not do. It is because our omnipotent God has allowed it. And if so, He allows it so that He will be glorified by all the nations, and much more by His people.

After 5 or 6 iterations of responding to terrorism "not only with prayers," I was really expecting him to say something like "taking the fight to the enemy."

It's only because I don't understand Buddhism.

Is this the same man that Lowell Thomas and Richard Halliburton interviewed back in the Dark Ages? Didn’t the D L make an escape from Tibet as the Chinese communists invaded?

He has a point. God did give free will to man. Choices are made. Islamonazis have made their choice. Now the rest of the world has to make theirs.

Hope they choose wisely. For it is clear; some who we employee to lead us and run our government have not done so.

And they must pay a price that resonates for decades on end as a warning to those who would defy the people who employee them.
