Bin Bayyah, 79 [now 80], is a prominent Muslim cleric and, as a respected religious scholar, has issued edicts to explain why groups such as the so-called Islamic State, also known as ISIL or ISIS, are misguided and should reverse course.
Last week, key clerics from the Muslim world issued two fatwas, or religious edicts, against the group.
One came from senior religious leaders in Saudi Arabia, and the other came from bin Bayyah.

Apparently he’s not the only one.
“Muslim leaders have issued a fatwa condemning Islamic extremist group Isis, and have said that British jihadis are âbetraying their own societiesâ by getting involved in the conflicts in Iraq and Syria.
“The fatwa represents the British Muslim communityâs strongest denunciation of Isis yet, calling the extremist group âhereticalâ and âan oppressive and tyrannical group.â
“According to The Sunday Times, the fatwa, authored by Sheik Usama Hasan, a former imam from east London, and supported by six senior Islamic scholars across the country, says it is âreligiously prohibited (haram) to support or joinâ Isis.”
It’s a start. But color me dubious ...
I’ll muster up a “yay”
Hey we got THAT goin for us!
“A noted Muslim cleric in Kerala on Saturday issued a fatwa asking his community members to boycott the Islamic Sate also known as Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and other terrorist organizations.
“In his religious decree, general secretary of All India Sunni Jam-e-yyathul Ulema, Shaikh Abu Bakr Ahmad said favouring the extremist organizations is antithetical to the Islamic sharia.
“The Muslim world is in dire need to take cognizance of the threats posed by the anti-Islamic outfits. The militant groups among Muslims are causing harm to Islam in the false garb of Islamists. Any support or endorsement to the extremist and terrorist organizations goes completely against the Islamic sharia,” the Sunni-Sufi Islamic scholar said.”
They should reverse course because they are savages, or because the present course is harming their objectives, and he believes guile is more effective. I do not trust a one of them, no matter how ‘respected’.
Abdallah bin Mahfudh ibn Bayyah (born 1935[1]) is an Mauritanian professor of Islamic studies at the King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.[4]
He is a specialist in all four traditional Sunni schools, with an emphasis on the Maliki Madh’hab. Currently he is the President of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies.[5] Bin Bayyah is involved in number of scholarly councils including The Islamic Fiqh Council, a Saudi-based Institute, he was also the Vice-President of International Union of Muslim Scholars.[6] from which he resigned mid 2013.[7] He is also a member of the Dublin-based European Council for Fatwa and Research, a council of Muslim clerics that aims at explaining Islamic law in a way that is sensitive to the realities of European Muslims.[8]
Dead man walking.
Oh, good. This will fix everything.
Good news, but history shows that moderates fade in the face of a determined radicalized group. Hitler was elected with a minority vote, split up parties helped him, but then he muscled his way past the moderates. In their hearts, every moderate wants a king. They need direction.
Head fake.
Come on people. The only thing muslims like killing more than infidels is different flavors of muslims.
Something Reagan used well when he kept stoking the Iran Iraq war by having us supply both sides with selective intel.
Terrorism is a side show anyway - designed to keep us distracted from the real issue which is that ALL muslims believe ALL governments must come under sharia law.
I have suspicion that they would rather have a peaceful invasion so the westerners will stay asleep.
Nonsense. So how does this fool counteract the “fatwas” of ISIS? More gibberish from a religion based on a “prophet” who never prophesied anything, on a book that is gibberish, on a so called prophet who was an epileptic, thief, murderer, rapist, and child abuser. The problem is the religion, once the world realizes that, we night make some headway, but don’t hold your breath.
So he just supports a group of terrorists not affiliated with ISIS. Terrorists fight amongst themselves all the time.
This happened in 2014. How’s this working out for us? Fatwa, my arse.
What is needed is a fatwa declaring if your intention is to blow yourself up, but, you don’t take any infidels with you, you still get the virgins.
