The Paris terror attacks may have put a clamp on President Obama's plans to resettle 10,000 Syrian refugees over the next year, as the number of governors saying they won't take them swells.
At the same time, top congressional lawmakers are urging the administration to halt the plan. House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul called on Obama to "temporarily suspend the admission of all additional Syrian refugees" pending a "full review," according to a letter obtained by Fox News.
The resistance at the state level is coalescing at a rapid clip. So far, governors in at least 17 states have moved to suspend or restrict the refugee resettlement, including Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin.
"Given the tragic attacks in Paris and the threats we have already seen, Texas cannot participate in any program that will result in Syrian refugees -- any one of whom could be connected to terrorism -- being resettled in Texas," Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a letter to Obama.
Some of these states previously did not object to the refugee plan. But Friday night's terror attack in Paris, which left at least 129 people dead, fueled fears that Islamic State militants are moving into Europe as part of the wave of refugees escaping the civil war, and could eye America next. Authorities say a Syrian passport found near one jihadist's body had been registered last month and moved through three countries along a busy migrant corridor known for lax controls.

Wolf is an idiot, he gave us a surgeon general who is a self mutilated mentally ill individual what’s a few jihadists.
I think that’s it in a nutshell. That is how he really feels. What a mentally ill mf’er.
...executive order that no state agencies can assist...
The text of Jindal’s EO says that too.
He did the same thing with Central Americans; he trying to seed red states with more Dem. Voters!
What about them fops and dandies?
;D
Maryland’s gov is R.
The latest map shows MD as “no comment yet”, or something similar. God, I hope he nuts up on this.
The Governors need to activate their Guard/Militia folks and make a stand - else, it’s just words and nothing will change in the end - the Left will get its way and the People get screwed again-and again-and again....
Wow! He's almost as cool as Obama. His kind of leadership and courage is going to be important when the state's number of mentally ill mutilators suddenly increases.
I just know he'll be able to explain how to peacefully coexist in western civilization in a convincing yet friendly manner to our soon to arrive Syrian guests.
I can just feel it.
The money comes from federal grants from U.S. Department of State/Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration. The funding for this bureau must be shut off by the House.
If you look to the downside the “immigrants” are getting what they want—to be concentrated together.
He got elected mainly because the left and teachers union hated the previous governor, so he’s a wacko leftist, who basically got elected because he wasn’t the other guy, not because anyone believed or backed him.... and so we are stuck with him and his belief he’s got some sort of leftist mandate.
Another factor as I recall is the previous governor (piss be upon him) put very little effort into getting re-elected after putting even less effort into taking charge when he sat in the big chair.
Like all he wanted to do was punch a political ticket.
Corbett definitely did not do the PR game well at all, and the teachers unions were galvanized against him.. for the children and all.
Of course this new guy still hasn’t put forth a realistic budget so schools still haven’t gotten their books this year, so so much for the children.
Jeff Chandler:
“If they’re smart, all 57 states will refuse.”
Bullish:
“It’s 58 states. Obama still had one to visit when he said he’d already been to 57, remember?”
Actually, it was 60. Zero said his staff weren’t even considering letting him go to Alaska and Hawaii. He wasn’t counting them.
QUOTE:
“... it is just wonderful to be back in Oregon, and over the last 15 months we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in fifty .... seven states? I think one left to go. One left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit but my staff would not justify it.”
Consarn it, how many states are there?
