In an interview that aired on CBSâs â60 Minutesâ Sunday, newly elected Speaker of the House Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) 58% said he hopes to lead a House of Representatives that is âfunctioning again.â
âI think wiping the slate clean was about wiping the slate clean in Congress and getting Congress, the House functioning again,â Ryan said.
However, part of that Ryan said will require finding âcommon groundâ with the Obama White House.
âLook, if we can find common ground, we can on highways, we will on funding the government, hopefully we can on tax policy,â Ryan said. âThose are three things that will produce certainty in this economy in the next few months. Letâs go do that.â
Ryan also vowed that there would be no mass deportation of illegal immigrants while he was serving as House Speaker.

Ryan is an idiot if he thinks Obama wants to cooperate or wants to actually achieve anything positive for America.
He would do well to heed this admonition:
“In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit.”

True, but SC judges can be impeached
It’s unrealistic to think that THIS Executive Branch is going to enforce anything that THIS Congress passes, unless that legislation agrees with Obama’s agenda.
Face it. That’s what we have for the next 14 months, gridlock — which is much better than letting this President have his way. To expect anything more is just wishful thinking.
“We take what we can get.”
There’s the problem. “We” passively accept. No one stands and says ‘Nope. Not going to slum it”. Seen Dc lately? Thats the result of that idiocy of taking what you can get.
So that oath to uphold the laws of the land was just a fraud?
No one got fooled. The leadership campaigned on working with Obama and liberals elected them. No one got fooled.
Unless one wants to say a conservative intentionally voted for someone that campaigned on working with Obama and clearly that’s idiocy to even ponder.
has anyone heard Pelosi say such after gaining the majority in congress??
No, what we can’t get we can’t get- by definition.
It’s silly to accept less and stupid to demand more.
I concur. Never wanted him in there to begin with.
We weren't fooled, we were overridden.
Yup.
Whats silly is to be passive and complain at the result of our inaction.
If we keep doing what we do, we will get more of what we have. Thats reality. Change or don’t. But don’t try to say we are choiceless. You want conservatives? Stop electing liberals. Even if you lose this round. It matters not at all if R or D holds office. They govern liberal. Thats what history shows and it is not arguable.

*You want conservatives? Stop electing liberals. *
Yep, and especially stop electing liberals to the House Republican Caucus!
Fight them in the primary elections and fight them in the general elections.
Thats the only way we ever change this without CW2.
Frankly Norm, I think running from the fight to take over the Republican Party is cowardly of conservatives.
But it’s stupid to not run conservatives against some of them in the General election.
We have to do both.
So the new strategy is the same as the old... implement Obama’s agenda for him. I suggest a new strategy... try doing what you promised since 2010... what gave you the majority in the first place... FIGHT!
The Republican caucus voted Ryan in as Speaker, and, as Rush pointed out, that whole thing was scripted from the start. The Freedom Caucus had their appointed little role to run a feint to the right — and then purr for Ryan.
