Nice try, but no cigar! One of these days you might realize that the French Soldiers come from the French CITIZENRY!You profess to respect the french Military men, but not their government or their citizenry. Can’t have it both ways. Considering the numerous times the government has changed since the time of de Gaulle, and the difficult times the French people (Citizenry) have had for decennies, you may think you can spout off a list of writers and actors which more of less correspond to a longer stream of Marxists I can name right here in the U.S. to prove your point.
By your own admission, your visits to France have been positive. Yet, you state as a positive fact that the French people back to the days of de Gaulle dislike America. You could not possibly be more wrong. Obviously, you have been brainwashed by anti-French idiots and are unable to separate fact from fiction. You also blame THE FRENCH PEOPLE( ALL OF FRANCE) for actions of a few!

Since you seem to be so up on the Marxists, I would like to ask why you don’t say a single word about the origin of this disease of Marxism, Carl Marx himself? Marx was a German so why don’t you blame Germany? Germany, his birth nation threw him out, AND SO DID FRANCE! I don’t hear any tiny squeak from you against ENGLAND where he LIVED in EXILE until he died. Why is that? England harbored him, but Germany and France threw him out. Get off trying to blame France for Marxism. Let’s hear you blame England!

De Gaulle disliked America but he also disliked England. It had to do with the fact that he was kept on the outside and not informed of the plans for D Day. Actually it was Churchill who kept him out of the planning. But then, of course, our own State Department was kept out of the planning for our invasion of North Africa with the Brits in Operation Torch. Roosevelt closed the door on the State Department because he said, “The place is like a sieve.”

As far as Fonda, Marilyn, and Seberg, nobody destroyed them but themselves.

You, like so many radical know-it-alls, have nothing to teach me about France, the French people, or French history. I had two french husbands, one fought in the French underground in WWII and the second was a member of the Onzieme Choc,(The elite of the elite) Paratroopers who fought in the war in Algeria. I lost the first one to a heart attack and the second to cancer. Both were extremely fine men, fine patriots, and adored America.

As far as the rest of your insults, I don’t make a habit of calling people names, so I’ll just tell you “GO FLY A KITE!”

You were once a newbie but nevertheless, trying to pull “rank’ on me won’t work. I state again that your knowledge of France and the French people stinks! You know nothing!

I was never a newbie, kiddo, and your knowledge of me is nil. We often have people drop by from other countries - I notice, btw, you don’t bother on your home page to say anything about yourself - and get pissy before decamping.

I gave you many reasons why people are leery of modern French culture and politics but you are unsurprisingly quiet about Foucault, Lacan, Deridda, even Beckett to some extent, Khomeini, Sartre, Camus, Celine, The 2nd Sex and all the rest of the damp, slimy existentialism that came out of the guilt engendered by French misbehavior during WWII. Educate yourself with a viewing of The Sorrow and the Pity to learn something about your country - or what seems to be your adopted country. Or perhaps where you are spending a semester of college.

And I’ll pull rank on you any time I feel like it. Grow up.

In order to “pull rank” you have to have some measure of validity. You have none. Your remarks are snarky and childish which reflect very unfavorably on you if you are trying to impress me with your importance. As far as your so called ‘knowledge’ is concerned, it is sadly lacking in balance. You don’t even have the basis of a high school debate. Quit wasting my time until you learn something worthy of discussion. In the meantime, I would suggest you take your meds, or grow up!

See my response in 103. You are obviously painfully ignorant of French culture, politics and literature. Your only riposte about my long-time interest in literature and film is to bring up The Pink Panther. And Karl Marx (not Carl) is associated much more with England than he is with Germany - it is where he did his life's work, where he - sort of - raised his daughters and where he is buried. His scheme was that communism would be tried in England, and yes, Germany - small, industrial countries quite unlike the behemoth that is Russia.

The writers I mentioned were born in France, lived and (some) died on their native soil. They were products of all that is good and evil in that culture.

Blah, blah, blah! Marx wrote the Communist Manifesto in Belgium. He returned to Germany and was thrown out. He returned to France and was thrown out a second time. He continued his work in exile (for the rest of his life) in London.
My knowledge of French history, French literature, and French music...as well as the numerous French inventions which have spearheaded and accomplished magnificent progress for the world FAR exceeds yours. Your feeble attempts to sound knowledgeable are thin and poorly formed. Don’t even TRY to go there!

All that is good and evil in that culture?????????????????????What the hell do you know? Nothing!
Let’s talk about Charles Martel, Henri IV, Napoleon, Voltaire, The Lumiere brothers, Charles Perrault, Marie Curie, Blaise Pascal, The Expressionists, Various Kings and Queens, Amiral de Grasse, and of course Gilbert du Motier, just to warm up. On second thought, the writings of Perraault should occupy you for a time starting with Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Red Riding Hood, Snow white, just for starters. They are about your grade level.

I didn’t mean for you to have to go to Wikipedia for the last half hour. It must have been stressful!

Nope! I’ve corrected Wikipedia a number of times. They are often wrong about things. Just off the top of my head I can drown you in things you SHOULD know about France, but obviously don’t.

If you resort to Wikipedia, that explains your lack of education.

You’d better quit digging before you reach Middle Earth.

So you DO hang out on Wikipedia. And all you could come up with is some “King and Queens”? Seriously, who are you? And how old are you? Embarrassing.

Beggin’ Strips would be clean & convenient. My dog, Dub,
would probably be upset if I did something that she
deemed unworthy of one of her Beggin’ Strips. - Guess I’ll
just stick some of those dried pork jerky treats in my
bag & let Dub keep her Beggin’ Strips for herself.

There have been a lot of articles in the last few days about how this atrocity has handed Trump the presidency.
