Jimmy Carter's administration was beating its chest like it was going to take on the terrorists, but they never did. The hostages were only released after Ronald Reagan took office, and that is what the terrorists were afraid of. Afraid that Ronald Reagan would take them and we know that he would have.

The fact is the terrorists knew who you were dealing with. They were not dealing with anyone who is really going to fight them. And that is exactly what the terrorists see in Europe and America right now, bunch of worthless leaders who will not do anything.

On the other hand, Israel has not really been messed with lately. At least not without retaliation. Netanyahu who knows how to deal with terrorists and that is why Israel is respected, though hated, among Muslim jihadists.
