Armistice Day - "We Shall Keep The Faith"
November 1918 | Moina Mitchell

Posted on 11/11/2015 5:31:58 AM PST by goldstategop

Oh! you who sleep in Flanders Fields,
Sleep sweet - to rise anew!
We caught the torch you threw
And holding high, we keep the Faith
With All who died.

We cherish, too, the poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led;
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies,
But lends a lustre to the red
Of the flower that blooms above the dead
In Flanders Fields.

And now the Torch and Poppy Red
We wear in honor of our dead.
Fear not that ye have died for naught;
We'll teach the lesson that ye wrought
In Flanders Fields.

Of course neither Turd-owe, nor O’Venal share such a viewpoint as that poem. Truly pathetic ‘leaders’ we suffer.

I have always referred to today as Armistice Day, and I always will.

“Truly pathetic “leaders” we suffer.”

As we did back then too. The leadership in that war was appalling. Including this day the 11th.
Units were informed that the cease fire would take effect at 11am. Most were told very early that morning. With a few hours left, many commanders launched attacks that killed about 11,000 that morning.
Congress investigated and the Army just waved the flag and gave a “how dare you question our generals” response.

The Germans were horrified and in one location actually tried to signal attacking forces, thinking they hadn’t got the word that the cease fire took effect in 45 minutes.

11,000 in the last few hours, when it was fully known the armistice was official.

A friend of mine, has a son serving in JTF2, who has served in much of the Middle East and other hot spots in Africa. This young man has expressed to his dad, just how rotten, hateful, thankless, unforgiving and backward, are the cultures where he has served.

Of course, most of these cultures are of a certain religeo-political, 7th century faith system! Not a great surprise, except to morons like certain pResidents and Prime Ministers, and their ‘fellow travellers’, who believe that all cultures are equal!
