Feldman points out a fact which any person who attends "Awards Day" programs at all local high schools can confirm--that where dollar amounts of scholarship "awards" are announced and applauded, the "full ride" equivalent for students bound to military academies is equated to a "scholarship." That happens every Spring in every community in America.
Only in a PC, it "depends on what the meaning of 'is' is, semantically-controlled-media-world mindset would one even think to question whether a man who was relating an event from his distant past might not remember then, as now, a common understanding of a conversation about being a young Black man from an impoverished setting, in the presence of a famous General whose praise of that young man had included a comment that, with his outstanding academic record, he could get into and attend West Point for free (translated then and now as "a scholarship").
We can only imagine how a reporter for Politico defines a "free ride" to college these days, one who has fallen under the spell of those pseudo-intellectual "progressives" who now wish to rewrite the dictionaries, give their own mind-control definitions to common terms, and dictate to the rest of us how we "evaluate" presidential candidates; but, this one thing we know: Ben Carson's life record of achievement and contributions to humanity will far outlive that little reporter's miniscule words, no matter how one defines them.
Well Let me be the first to say...
“In before the âCarson is not conservativeâ loons”
Speaking of which:

This whole Carson brouhaha has me disgusted. To me it is the bigotry of low expectations. The elephant in the room is always that he’s BLACK. I’m sorry but that should be irrelevant. To argue that its not is to say that we need affirmative action to see a black in an alpha role. There are a great many successful blacks who competed on an equal playing field and won big. Conservatives should not be protecting Carson on that basis nor Liberals/Media attacking him. They attack everyone who’s conservative so I see less bigotry on their part than on the so called conservative voices who want to protect a “good” black man.
Carson has not impressed me as the right man for the Presidency and I am concerned that his goals would damage the country further...PR statehood, TPP, universal guaranteed healthcare, minimum wage tied to inflation, no wall and a way to citizenship for all who can sneak in with full access to welfare. Why do I need to protect this man from the press who lies about every candidate and in so doing often uncovers real issues. I despise the MSM but to enter this race on the right is to take on the Media. Candidates who can’t handle them fall by the wayside. Better weed those candidates out before they are in a position to take America with them when they cave in as Obama has done time and again.
The scope of the chaos is too small; it's not just the USA, it's the world.
I agree that we’d be better served if those comments were made in the first post rather than as edits to the actual title. I guess it just doesn’t bother me THAT much.
Well, it makes me grumpy, although I rarely mention it.
You don’t have to protect cars from the lying left. You also don’t have to open doors for handicapped folks. Nothing requires you to stop a man from beating a woman on a public street either.
Is the character mistranslation from cut and paste ever going to be fixed?
Has anybody tried pasting articles into Notepad so that they become plain text and then pasting into FR?
So in your mind he is equated with a handicapped person or a weaker person who needs my protection, make my point for me why don’t you? I am giving him more respect than you are.
Hey, I am sorry you are not bright enough to understand what I said. Truly.
Excellent Clarice Piece.
Ditto. : )

Agreed. Excellent!
