Ted Cruz has been on the Senate floor fighting for the passage of Kate's law, the law named for Kate Steinle who was murdered by an illegal alien in July of this year. The bill would block states and cities from receiving federal law enforcement funding if they refuse to communicate with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement due to that state or city's "sanctuary city" policies.
One of the bills most vocal opponents has been Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid. During yesterday's debate on the Senate floor, Reid falsely characterized the bill as one that would "tear innocent families apart."
Senator Cruz fired back. Hard.
"It is sad that the Democratic leader chooses to stand with violent criminal illegal aliens instead of the American citizen," Cruz began. "But even sadder is that he impugns legal immigrants."
"I am the son of of an immigrant who came legally from Cuba," Cruz continued. "And for the Democratic leader to cynically suggest that somehow immigrants should be lumped into the same bucket with murderers and rapists demonstrates the cynicism of the modern Democratic party."

This guy speaks like a true statesman. He would make an excellent president. He is smart, strong, eloquent and principled. Cruz remains my first choice.

As much as I would hate losing our only good Senator from Texas, I would love to see him as our President even more.
I do hope the party and the country wake up before it’s too late.
He’s my 1st pick. I hope his stock continues to rise. We will not find a better person or candidate. He’s a once in a lifetime candidate. IMHO better in many ways than Reagan (though Reagan did have a charm and warmth about him that I don’t think anyone else can equal and he did set the bar pretty far up there).

When I listen to Cruz, I know I have made the right choice to back him for President.
When I listen to Trump, I know I have made the right choice to back Cruz for President.

Remember in 1993 that Harry (the booty) Reid introduced a Senate bill to curb illegals entering the USA. Now the liar hypocrite sings a more ‘evolved tune’.... Dems would throw their mama’s under the bus for political power, greed and influence.
I remember the first time my wife and I saw that. It is powerful, moving and very tender all at the same time. This man’s character is untouchable as his heart seems fixed on his Lord and Savior. My prayers are with him.” Faithful in a few things, ruler over many” is how I hope his candidacy goes. If America picks a successful business man over a man of character then I think we have made a decision about what our country values most. That is probably the way it will go. However, one of our Founding fathers (maybe Adam Smith) stated that a vote based on character is never wasted. If Cruz is not the Republican candidate then my next best hope is that we see a Trump/Cruz ticket. Cruz would still have a great deal of influence as to what happens in the Senate and perhaps a future shot at the presidency - if America is still around by then.

Sometimes it is possible to have it both ways.

And the bill? Has this destroying got it passed in the senate? No?
So then who the hell cares if a debating point was scored?
One does what one can. Cruz is good but he is not God and thus cannot perform miracles.
But I suppose Trump can?
Before Reid was making these pathetic, “Won’t anyone think of the children?” or “You’re racist!” arguments:
Reid laid out the plan in an Aug. 10, 1994 op-ed published in the Los Angeles Times. “The federal government has been grossly irresponsible in its neglect of mounting immigration problems, even as these problems place unbearable burdens on states like California” Reid wrote at the time. “It is regrettable that states have reached a point where the only avenue they have for justice is the courts. It is even more regrettable that this Administration and this Congress stand by and allow the federal courts to decide the nation’s immigration policies.”
Also, today this hypocrite Dingbat doesn’t seem to have a problem with the federal courts overruling state legislatures and their electorates.
Trump supported TARP, auto bailout and Porkulus bill.

Trump supported President Obama’s 2009 stimulus, saying: “The word stimulus is probably not used in its fullest…you know, certain of the things that were given weren't really stimulus. They were pork, as we call it, or they were gifts to certain people. But overall, I think he's [President Obama] doing very well. You do need stimulus and you do have to keep the banks alive.” (CNN)
Trump supported TARP, saying, "You had to do something to shore up the banks, because ... you would have had a run on every bank." (CNN)
Trump supported the 2008 auto bailout, saying, “I think the government should stand behind them 100 percent. You cannot lose the auto companies. They’re great. They make wonderful products.” He also said that the federal government could “easily save the companies.” (Daily Caller)
Trump criticized the Federal Reserve’s intervention in the debt market, saying quantitative easing creates “phony numbers” that mislead the marketplace and “will not ultimately benefit the economy. The dollar will go down in value and inflation will start rearing its ugly head.” (CNBC)
Donald Trump has a history of using eminent domain to complete business deals. Multiple times Trump has supported the use of government agencies to take possession of homes and businesses for use in his private business plans. Eminent domain seizures are reserved only for public use of property rather than abuse by the government taking property from one individual and giving to another. (Washington Post)
Donald Trump has sought and received crony capitalist tax breaks for his commercial properties in New York. These tax breaks, and even an abatement, force the property taxes of other property owners to rise at the expense of the connected. Special treatment for one business or industry over another with the tax code conflicts with free market principles. (National Review)
