I am a fan and a student of a TV series called The Wire. Although the 5 year series ended several years ago, it predicted exactly the incident in question where a kid became a serious liability and was eliminated. In our society today, a kid can commit serious crimes and receive no punishment because he is a kid.

I can not stress enough the understanding of today that can be gleaned from watching and in fact studying the various characters that make up the narrative of the Wire. The Wire is set in Baltimore and all the people recently/currently in the news there are depicted in the fictional TV series of several years ago.

The Wire is the police wire tapping to gain intelligence to develop evidence to make a case. The money, effort and day to day grind result in the solving of a specific case, but in the end after 5 years of extreme effort, the situation on the streets is virtually the same as if none of the effort and expense took place.

The language is extreme. But disregard the bad language to get the message being delivered

Most thinking people watching tv/movies understand that it’s connection to the real world is just enough to make it look real.
For some, tv/movies become their reality.

Most people have been in an auto accident, just a fender bender.
Please tell me about the movie that reproduced the same feelings as when that car suddenly came out of the alley and you ran into it?
Yes, they can use character and plot development, music, lighting ...to get you pumped up.
Yet, it is understood that you are safe in your chair.

RVN 1969, I was shot in the head.
No movie can compare.

We have a large group that think Rambo or The Deer Hunter are true and factual.

I try to forget the many times I’ve been ask about Russian roulette in Vietnam, and by educated people too.

Yes, I understand that russian roulette is an allegory,a good one; I have given up trying to explain it.
