A prominent Russian millionaire with high-level ties to the Kremlin has been found dead inside a Washington hotel, a Russian official and a senior U.S. official told ABC News.
Mikhail Lesin, the former head of media affairs for the Russian government who's been accused of curtailing the countryâs press freedoms, had been staying at Hotel Dupont when he was found Thursday, according to officials.
It's unclear why the long-time adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin was in Washington, but the Metropolitan Police Department is now investigating his death. On Thursday, U.S. authorities notified the Russian embassy in Washington that one of its citizens had died, and Russian officials are now working with American authorities to determine the circumstances of the death, the embassy told ABC News in a statement.
Citing an ongoing investigation, an MPD spokesman would only confirm the department is conducting a âdeath investigation."
Lesin is credited with creating Russia Today, the English-language news network backed by the Russian government. Now known as RT, the network âprovides an alternative perspective on major global events, and acquaints an international audience with the Russian viewpoint,â according to its website.

Even the Italian Mafia marveled at the brutality of Russia: “They’ll cut your heart out while smiling at you and offering you a drink.”
But an employee of the the Director of the CIA getting shot in the head in his car in front of his church is.....
TOTALLY SUSPICIOUS.
Indeed, no MSM presstitutes have taken this up.
It’s UNCOOL.
This covert war is getting pretty brutal!
Wow...this is intriguing.
L quarrels was the passport hack that was about to talk...he just couldn’t be allowed to do *that*.
Did he visit Ye Olde Polonium Tea Shoppe that afternoon?
From what I read about the fighting between Germany and Russia in World War 2, I can see how ruthlessness could be a pretty normal trait for some in that area.
The irony is that Lesin will be assured to have RT spin his death in a manner to favor the Kremlin, and not his own.
Kremlinacide?
I wonder if there was a dead woman with him?
Say Clinton Crime Family? or Muzlim Brotherhood?
At least they didn’t blow up the plane he was on.....
Totally unrelated to Russian civilian airliner structural failure in Egypt flight, and disintegration mid-flight, or missile, rocket, onboard bomb, or whatever.
The death of a Russian media tycoon in DC is significant - what if the head of Fox was found dead in Red Square? Would = something hugh and series.
RT is a pretty good counterpoint for news feed when trying to assess what happens overseas. Skewed, yet informative. At least they cover serious events, such as the Donetsk invasion last year. ABCMSNBCBS too busy reporting on transgender bathrooms and gay marriage and globull warming, to mention Ukraine lands takeover by Russia.
Kremlinacide?
I was wondering if he had mentioned having copies of emails sent by Satan’s Prom Queen.
This could be Arkincide

“Mikhail Lesin, 57, a multi-millionaire and close former aide of Russian president Vladimir Putin, died of a stroke, his family told Russian state media.”
Oh, oh, this is not going to go down well with Putin, having one of his buddies mysteriously die while in Obama’s U.S. Won’t go down well at all.
LOL Good one.
