My Dad was good friends with some guys who were alumni of College Y, which was College X’s arch-rival. His friends, who did the local admissions interviews for College Y, soon thereafter told my Dad that they had talked to the admissions folks at College Y and that College Y would let me in based on my admission to College X if I wanted to go to College Y instead.
Do I think there would be anything in the records of College Y about this? No. But I think I could have truthfully said I could have gone to College Y if I wanted to. (In fact, I really wanted to go to College X so it wasn’t an issue.)
Similarly, I am sure a minority student like Carson who got admitted to Yale would probably have been bombarded by other schools trying to woo him away from Yale to their school, even if he didn’t formally apply. Whether the service academies would do that I don’t know, but I assume they also go after top talent.
Let the word-mincing begin. He said he was offered a full scholarship. Everything about that claim is hogwash. He made up the names of the people he supposedly attacked, but the rest of the story, we should totally believe. He didn’t have anything to do with the herbal medicine company, except there’s videos on YouTube of him in their infomercials. He had a gun pulled on him and told the gunman to go rob the guy at the register (nevermind how completely idiotic that all sounds to begin with), but there’s no police report of the Popeye’s being robbed. He’s taking running for President very seriously, but he suspended his campaign for a week to go on a book tour.
When is enough enough? Clinging to a guy like this until the bitter end just drags everyone down, and I hate to bring it up, but there’s a general election to think about. Once someone has this much baggage, they should be ejected.

what will help Ben Carson is that he is pretty much what he seems. As for that, so are the other candidates. Even Hillary. The Democrats seem to be saying: we will take her warts and all. Carson has a lot fewer warts than she has. The real question is do we pick someone who can lead and lead in the right direction.

The very basis of FR is analyzing of MSM’s continuous distortions and prevarications. Its a great hobby. If not for that, however, there would be no point to reading anything they say ever. I no longer watch any TV news, haven’t in years. What would be the point?
Thanks to FR we can compare multiple sources and tease out the likeliest story. There isn’t any single source we can believe at face value. Most of them you know beforehand to discount whatever they say as a probable fabrication.
Was just on Pukitico’s FB page, had to look so far down for any info on Ben Carson I thought i’d be there till tomorrow - and then I find TONS of post about “Politico’s Fabrication” from other media outlets - how will the spinmeisters from that garbage site weasel their way outta this one?

However, there’s no such thing as an “informal offer” (or even a “full scholarhip”): an application to West Point begins with a nomination by a member of Congress or another prominent government or military official, Ben,and don’t you know that only a Democrat like Hillary can get out of one lie by telling another lie, but that never works for a Republican? It’s part of the double standard imposed by the Democrat-PAC Media.
Oh and you don’t suppose Donald’s hand is on the invisible sword that’s hacking Carson to pieces right now, do you? Trump didn’t get rich by wasting money unnecessarily: hoisting Carson on his own petard and letting the media crucify him for free is WAY cheaper than paying for a bunch of TV ads. (BTW, we haven’t seen the end of the Carson Revelations yet. I predict there’s more to come.)
And it’s pretty clear the Democrat Super-PAC media were building up Carson and Fiorina as GOP heroes, hoping they’d be juicy targets down the road to chop to pieces like they did with Herman Caine, etc. Looks like Trump is beating them to the punch before media-heroes Carson and Fiorina could do much damage to the GOP with their lies and wackiness.
