Cruz: Abolishing IRS Not a ‘Pie in the Sky’ Proposal
Breitbart ^ | 4 Nov 2015 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 11/04/2015 7:55:37 PM PST by Isara

Wednesday on Fox Business Network's "Varney & Co.," Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), ....... insisted that his tax plan that would abolish the Internal Revenue Service, isn’t a “pie in the sky” proposal, as FBN host Stuart Varney suggested it was.

"Well, you know it's interesting," he said. "If you go back to 1981 when Ronald Reagan was elected president, he wanted to cut the top marginal tax rate from 70 percent to 28 percent. Every observer said that's pie in the sky, that will never happen and especially that will never happen with a Democratic House of Representatives and Tip O'Neill as speaker of the House."

"And what Reagan did is he took the case to the American people and he made the case that with economic growth, we can turn this country around," he continued. "And we went from the stagflation, the misery and malaise of the Carter years to the seven fat years, to the booming Reagan growth. My tax plan, a simple flat tax is designed to do the same thing and we're going to do the same thing by taking it to the American people by coming out of this election with a mandate from the people."

All it really takes is to convince enough people that there really is no point to the agency.

We will always have a “IRS” type 800 lb gorilla federal enforcement agency...

What we have now needs desperate reform...

But we always have an enforcement arm...

Anybody who thinks Uncle Sammie is giving up that power is not paying attention...

It may not be Pie in the Sky but his proposal will not get us there - except by naming the IRS something else.

Individuals still have deductions, small businesses filing as individuals still have expenses to deduct, and businesses subject to the 16% flat tax still have to calculate income net of cost of goods sold.

All of this has to be audited and verified by some agency. You can call it what you want but anyone saying you can eliminate the IRS is just playing to the credulous.

And don't forget you can do all that on a postcard. < /sarcasm>

BTW, the only business deductions are business to business purchases...Other than that it's a gross sales tax AKA VAT. Not even wages are deductible.

It would be a small business and jobs killer.

Imagine you have a business, you pay 16% tax on your gross sales, including profit. Then you file your individual return for the profit you earned and pay another 10% on the profit your business just paid 16% on. The sCruz IRS would have to hire more auditors just for that.

The sCruz tax is designed to have the eliminated corporate taxes paid for off the backs of small business.

If you don't think his big money business owners didn't have their slimey hands in that little tax scam, think again.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance. - list of grievances; Declaration

8. (4) A great debt will require great taxes; great taxes, many taxgatherers and other officers; and all officers are auxiliaries of power.

9. The management of a great funded debt and a extensive system of taxes will afford a plea, not to be neglected, for establishment of a great incorporated bank. the use of such a machine is well understood. If the Constitution, according to its fair meaning, should not authorize it, so much the better. Push it through by a forced meaning and you will get in the bargain an admirable precedent for future misconstructions.

10. “Divide and govern” is a maxim consecrated by the experience of ages, and should be familiar in its use to every politician

11. As soon as sufficient progress in the intended change shall have been made, and the public mind duly prepared according to the rules already laid down, it will be proper to venture on another and a bolder step toward a removal of the constitutional landmarks.

They don’t need to fire all the IRS workers. Just redeploy them to build the wall.

And it’s gonna be a Beautiful wall! Ted Cruz, as the next Supreme Court justice, can vote to strike down any attempts to block the construction from going forward.

And with former IRS folks as the work crew, we can be sure the books will be kept in order, and no money diverted from the project.

Repeal the 16th Amendment.

If you keep ANY income tax, even at 10%, the “progressive” income tax rates WILL COME BACK. Reason: there will always be envy and hate. In other words, there will always be Democrats.

“They don’t need to fire all the IRS workers. Just redeploy them to build the wall.’

Another good source of labor for the wall would be illegal immigrants. Give them three meals, a shower and bed along with a 6 month sentence as a brick layer. If they are caught again after that then a year. This would be one way to get Mexico to pay for the wall.
