For Obama, ignorance is bliss when it comes to criminal records

Past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior, but for Barack Obama, that doesn’t matter in the initial screening federal employees. Ari Melber reports for MSNBC:

President Obama on Monday announced a new order to reduce potential discrimination against former convicts in the hiring process for federal government employees.

It is a step towards what many criminal justice reformers call “ban the box” – the effort to eliminate requirements that job applicants check a box on their applications if they have a criminal record.

While the rule was once seen as a common sense way for employers to screen for criminal backgrounds, it has been increasingly criticized as a hurdle that fosters employment discrimination against former inmates, regardless of the severity of their offense or how long ago it occurred. Banning the box delays when employers learn of an applicant’s record.

Obama has lots of company in wanting to help ex-cons get a leg up in the hiring process:

Republican Gov. Chris Christie signed a ban the box bill into law last year. Hillary Clinton endorsed ban the box last week, while Republican Sen. Rand Paul also introduced similar federal legislation, with Democratic Sen. Cory Booker, to seal criminal records for non-violent offenders.

The “non-violent” label can be deceiving, given the huge number of cases in which a defendant pleads guilty to a lesser offense so that persecutors can avoid a long and costly trial on the more severe charges they believe the defendant is guilty of.

Obama’s change will not completely eliminate consideration of the criminal record. In July he told a group of prisoners:

pRes_ _ent Obama wants this because HE is a criminal,
and because it disrupts America - which he HATES,
and will kill Americans - whom he HATES.

I can believe the jackass said that putting thousands of criminals back out on the streets would be “good for da conomy.” Where is the proof of that? Thirdworlders make crappy presidents.

This is just the opening act to the mother of all Presidential pardons. I’m afraid this guy is just warming up.

If I were an employer (I’m not). I’d just do a back ground investigation on potential employees and a criminal record alone wouldn’t keep me from hiring a felon who had served his time, it would depend on what that crime was. No rapist, molesters or murders need apply.

I wouldn’t hire an embezzler to be my bookkeeper eitherl

What about people that never had the chance to go to college or learn a trade? Don’t they deserve a break as well? So shouldn’t asking for credentials be off-limits too?

Apparently so. Since Obama had no credentials, we asked for them. But, they were sealed by a Judge. Which brings us to the state the country currently is in.

Yet another reason we need a Constitutional amendment to put a check on Presidential pardons. Perhaps a pardon can be rejected by a (2/3?) vote in the Senate.

Unchecked pardon power is a king-like power. I wonder why the Founders allowed it.

I suppose the clown is also going to insist that felons have their 2nd Amendment rights restored upon their release.

Wouldn't that be right in there with some of that "fair" stuff he's always yapping about?

So they want to let criminals work for the feds? Oh, maybe I should be a little more specific - convicted criminals. We all know there are more than a few felons in the administration.

Great idea snapper heads. Convicted criminals - people who knew the rules and laws yet said "eff it, I want/need to do or have this, so to hades with your laws..." People who decided the rules didn't apply to them, and on top of that were too stupid to get away with it.

Now they want to willingly admit them to employment in the US government. On the job they may have access to your identity information, banking information, medical information. They may have access to valuable and dangerous classified information.

Sorry, decisions and actions have consequences. You make poor life choices, even early on, and well, that's your mentality. A consequence of that is that you may never be completely trusted nor trustworthy - ever. A consequence of that is that there are some positions you just cannot hold. Sometimes, you just can't un-ring that bell.

It’s the first time in history we’ve had a president who entertains fantasies about staffing the White House entirely with homosexual sex offenders.

IF this is hiring for the federal government, this ‘ban’ will extend all the way to the White House.

How convenient, since we have a known murderer running on the Democratic ticket.

Surely the founders would not have imagined in a thousand years the American people would have elected this type of person.
