Daily Beast: Obama, Hillary Toying With ‘Civil War’ Over Gun Confiscation
Breitbart ^ | 11/02/15 | AWR Hawkins

Posted on 11/03/2015 5:10:27 AM PST by Enlightened1

On November 2, The Daily Beast pointed to recent statements from President Obama and Hillary Clinton regarding the implementation of Australian-style gun confiscation and suggested “civil war could erupt on American soil” if any administration actually tried to confiscate privately owned firearms.

The Daily Beast theoretically agreed that “confiscation on a massive scale” may be “the only way to solve American gun violence,” but they pointed out that it was not realistic and suggested Hillary risks causing irreparable divisions by talking about confiscation then mocking gun owners as conspiracy theorists waiting for “black helicopters” to come take their guns away.

According to The Daily Beast, confiscation was workable in Australia because there was no Second Amendment and the government only had to take 650,000 guns. That is a far cry from the “350 million” believed to be in Americans’ hands.

Yes, “350 million.”

But even more important than the number of guns is the depth of American “devotion” to them. And The Daily Beast observes that it is this devotion–this dedication to the philosophy and tradition underlying the right to keep and bear arms–that turns the mere mention of confiscation into something that could literally rip the country apart.

Yes, but it was a monumental failure, and has provoked all sorts of negative comment.

Plus, we’re talking about a national confiscation.

But... all that being said... it’s not impossible that someone might try a national confiscation. It would certainly have intensely negative consequences.

I just don’t think it’ll ever happen.

You may be right.

It’d be quite... controversial... to say the least of it.

I agree with you. However, I think Obama does understand and that is what frightens me. I have always believed Obama is merely the public face of a diabolical group determined to bring the U.S. down.

The 1993 siege, and ultimate destruction, of the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, TX was a dry run engineered by Hillary!.

The justification for the attack was the alleged violation of federal firearm laws by David Koresh.

Had the Davidians indeed been armed, I wonder if the outcome would have been more along the lines of the stand-off at the Cliven Bundy ranch instead of the murder of 76 innocent people by their putative government.

I’ve read of several incidents in which owners of legally registered Class III weapons died, and the Feds showed up at the door to confiscate the weapon as it could not be transferred to the deceased’s kin.

It can happen here.

I long to see a congress, administration and Supreme Court strong enough, conservative enough to pass a law and uphold it to require every able bodied (and mind), law abiding citizen to own a gun(s).

I’d even entertain the notion of tax money buying guns for those citizens who couldn’t afford them.

We’ll be compelled to turn all weapons incrementally. First, whomever government decided is defective in some way, will be prevented from buying a gun. Defective to liberal government jackboots will be those who have criminal charges of any kind, like domestic abuse. Not convicted, charged.

Eventually, all but a very few will have to turn in their guns in order to do any banking, buy food, have a job and there will be a council that looks at your social media accounts to determine if you’re”racist”, homophobic, global warming denier, etc.

Nobody is going to go around collecting guns. People will give them up willingly, sadly.

How it WILL happen.

After a high profile killing, a proposal to ban firearms will be drawn up. Amongst this act will be a clause giving the STATES billion$ of dollar$ for “crime control” and lot$ of other thing$.

The congressmen will be placed on the “horns of a dilemma” as their greed for government money will outweigh their constituent’s demands to vote down the law.
The act will pass and be signed into law by an anti-gun president, and we all will suddenly be criminals in our own homes.

THIS IS HOW THE 1968 GUN CONTROL ACT and Clinton’s AW ban was passed!

Gun owners were blindsided twice back then. We’ve wised up since. NEVER LET DOWN YOUR GUARD!

Criminals are the violent ones, not the guns.

The left's issue is not criminal use of weapons. They have engineered a bureaucratic takeover of the United States with the invaluable assistance of the judicial branch and the legislative branch. That seething mass of goobers out there is not under their total control. They will have control.

I expect they'll overplay their hand.

People, on both sides, need to look at the experience of CT trying to get citizens to register firearms last year. Only an estimated 15% actually complied.

There was a small group of owners who tried to comply but missed the deadline. They were sent letters ordering them to either turn in their weapons or take them out of the state. That went viral and bunch of outside pro-2A groups threatened to bring THEIR weapons into the state as an act of civil disobedience.

The matter disappeared quietly pretty quickly after that.

NYSAFE has apparently had similar non compliance numbers. Which are only leaking out now because they were so abysmal that they were classified as Law Enforcement Sensitive and locked away from public view.

I personally think that Obama, Hillary and the leadership element are really just dicking their own supporters here - making threats that can’t and won’t be backed up with substantive action knowing that doing so will keep those supporters placated and that those supporters have nowhere else to go anyways.

I wonder where they came up with the 350 million firearms number?

That’s easy.

Calculated from the rising lake levels.

That’s a very specific - and extremely limited - case.

Yes, it MIGHT happen here, and I suppose we can never say, ‘Never,’ but I continue to contend that anyone believing it really could occur is seeing Bogie Men.

Americans might fight for their guns - even though they haven’t seemed willing to fight for other things. We’ll see I guess. Dark days ahead for our nation.

"People will give them up willingly, sadly."

Your scenario makes sense. It will be an incremental effort. Stopping it will require massive and sudden resistance. I'm not sure such resistance is possible ... but I'm preparing for it.

Perhaps from the databank which says there are (only) 11 million illegals in the country, and that the number has been stable for at least a decade. /S

It is even more important for Americans to be armed now that there will be “lone wolf” attacks in the West.
