Not to be too picky, but I think that Erdogan would be the “Caliph” of the Islamic World, not the Caliphate.
Turks vs. Arabs? Anybody remember WW1? Who do you think Lawrence of Arabia was fighting? Turks and Arabs are not friends, and the Turkish army will not allow a “Caliphate”, nor a “Caliph”.
