Frontpagemag.com ^ | November 2, 2015 | Mark Tapson

On the Fox show Outnumbered Thursday, Newt Gingrich referred to liberals as “the totalitarian Left.” That same day, on Fox Business’s Varney & Co, political commentator Monica Crowley remarked that the Democrats of today, seeking a fundamental transformation of America, are not the classical liberals of the past.

Liberals have never been “classical liberals”

Liberals adopted the “Liberal” label because their preferred “Progressive” became too closely associated with “Socialist”

“Classical Liberals” are today’s small government Conservatives.

They’re apostrophes, commas, quotes and other “special characters” that will render ok in the post text entry window but the FR software doesn’t know how to properly convert for actual display in a post.

The workaround is to strip them out and replace manually, by handkeying after copying and pasting.

They started showing up at about the same time that FReepers were getting malware warnings from FR. I think it’s probably due to some code changes made here to resolve those warnings. There were several threads on it all last week.

An unmarked grave suits them better.

When you circumvent the Constitution, you are the same as those you despise.

Your comment reminds me of the third missionary in the ruru joke.

In case you haven't heard it, three missionaries were captured by cannibals. The first missionary was given a choice by the cannibal chief of death or ruru. He chose ruru. twenty cannibals then anally raped him. the second missionary was given the choice, He also chose ruru, The same except for 30 cannibals doing the deed. The third missionary said I choose death. The cannibal chief asked him if he was sure, and he sanctimoniously replied death is better than that. So the cannibal chief said "OK, death by ruru."

I’m still trying to figure which side you’re describing...Unless it’s Congress as a whole.

(I’d /s if I thought I was *trying* to be so)

You start ~40+ yrs too late; skipping the ‘early years’ (income taxes, public schools, social security, public works projects, unionization, etc.).

The uniparty: 99% of democrats and 75% of Republicans PLUS a lot of their supporters who are not in elective office.

I don’t disagree.

However, I focused on a more “recent” timeline to better communicate reality to leftists who deny they are socialists/communists...thanks in part to the socialist indoctrination from the “Government Education Industrial Complex” and their NEA communist leadership.

My point was solely that when one promotes ideas akin to the strategy of Hitler, one cedes the higher ground.

I think you've got a little role reversal going on there good buddy. It's 0 and his accomplices who want us disarmed and dead. But funny you should mention Hitler. The Jews sure kept to the higher moral ground there didn't they?

When someone suggests incarceration for people who say things they disagree with, Hitler might not be best comparison. Closer to today’s Russian government.

The post I first replied to is the antithesis of free speech. I still believe in free speech.

Closer to today's Russian government.

Think of it as a war between those who want to enslave us and those of us who don't want to be enslaved. Politely asking them to respect our rights hasn't worked. And speaking of the Russians

"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more - we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward."
