CNBC Debate Exec Held Three Positions In Clinton Administration
Breitbart News ^ | October 31,2015 | Patrick Howley

The CNBC executive who oversaw the disastrous Republican presidential debate is a former Clinton White House staffer, Breitbart News has learned.

Brian Steel, senior vice president of communications at CNBC, was the second highest-ranking network official at Wednesday night’s debate in Colorado after only CNBC CEO Mark Hoffman. Steel was described by an insider as the “executive on hand” for the debate, which was marked by the moderators’ partisan attacks and gotcha questions for the Republican candidates.

Brian Steel worked in Bill Clinton’s White House as a domestic policy adviser to Vice President Al Gore.

His White House gig was just one of three jobs that he held in the Clinton administration. He also worked in Clinton’s Department of Justice, where he served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Policy Development, and also worked as the associate director of the department’s Office of Public Affairs.

Steel told Breitbart News that he was involved in the planning of the debate and also executing public-relations issues but was not directly involved on the editorial side.

Steel is now tasked with defending the network’s disastrous debate performance in the press.

“People who want to be President of the United States should be able to answer tough questions,” Steel told CNN and other outlets for stories about the failure of the night’s moderators.

The CNBC moderators implied that Donald Trump was a cartoon evildoer, grilled Ben Carson on his “vetting process” for giving a speech to a drugmaker that made a product that he used himself, and generally annoyed all of the candidates to the point where they started snapping back at the moderators. A CNBC moderator also falsely said that the debate was “always” going to be two hours long, even though in reality Trump negotiated it down from three hours.

And here Priebus thought we were going to have a nice, friendly, impartial debate

The whole process is ridiculous. The candidates should select the moderators. Ridiculous to let all democrats question the republicans.

And then all democrats question the democrats!

Reince Pribus, and that lawyer Ben Ginsberg BOTH need to go, or nothing will change. They had to know how this would turn out, yet they let the candidates down, led them into an abusive situation.

Ridiculous, ludicrous, but planned. If only the RNC head had a brain, we would have an alternative format, venue, and moderators. But again, they are the stupid party....

Someone at CNBC told Trump about the moderators’ intentions a few days before the debate. He publicly stated that he knew the debate would be “unfair”.

“Ridiculous to let all democrats question the republicans.

Yep, that’s pretty much it in a nutshell.

I heard that CNBC actually had a written out contract on how the debate was to be handled. I think that the RNC lawyers should look into suing for breach of contract. the party should go after all there ad revenue in the suit.

The whole format is just so screwed up even without the bias. I’m sure having 10 people on that stage doesn’t help matters. But it’s, “Ask a loaded question and give them 60 seconds or so to answer.”

It’s not a debate in which actual stances and ideas are given much of a platform at all.

He thinks they’re all unfair to him. Trump whines about it in Twitter. Ted Cruz nuked them to their face.

Price us and the GOP do not want republicans to have any of these positions

They do not want the senate, the house, the White House. They don’t want any judges

They do not work for us they do not work to protect and defend the constitution

When they have the house, as they do, it is so much work for them to twist around their words explaining why they support Obama, which they do

Paul Ryan was working so hard this morning At first glance I thought I saw his nose growing. Honest

Priebus is the guy they have in there who plays dumb

If a former three Hillary staffer can moderate a debate but it takes twenty years and counting to even consider getting rush or mark levin in there, how can we not see that the GOP works for someone else?

It was a century level landslide election last year for the GOP. No one talks about that. Least of all that awful Paul Ryan

Why?
