Yes, it would. He would have had a very different political situation as president compared versus gov of Mass. The country is 50/50 red blue, not deep blue. He would have been supported by a national Republican party with a strong conservative base. He probably would have had a Republican legislature. His administration would have been full of relatively conservative staffers and appointees.
It’s just silly to think that a Romney administration wold have been anywhere as liberal as the Obama administration which is packed from top to bottom with leftist ideologues.
I was amazed that a solid liberal was called a “severe conservative” by some.
They obviously ignored his record.

Granted Romney is a shapeshifting squish, but he ran on a conservative platform, would have had an administration staffed with conservatives in many positions, very well may have had a Republican legislature, would have won the presidency with the help of a national party that has a powerful conservative base, and would have been presiding over a country that is not deep blue. These things all matter. They would have influenced him away from governing like he did in MA.
And just to state the obvious — Romney’s not a freaking Marxist ideologue like Obama, who you helped elect.

I wish you guys could just be honest and say, “Yes, we realize that Romney wouldn’t have been as destructive to the country as Obama, but we thought it was more important to make a statement to the GOPe by casting a protest vote.”
