It appears to be a typical nightclub/theatre fire, where the lights or some normally harmless smoke devices set fire to decorations around the stage. These are mostly plastic, and the toxic smoke seems to be what got most people.
Of course, the place was also overcrowded and the exits may not have been what they should have been. It’s similar to that horrible nightclub fire they had in Rhode Island a few years ago.
