BOSTON (Reuters) - Ben Carson, frontrunner in the struggle to become Republican presidential candidate, said on Wednesday that his support for gay rights initiatives when he was a director at major companies does not clash with his opposition to gay marriage.
But some leaders in the social conservative movement that has backed Carson say his more than 15-year record on the boards of retailer Costco Wholesale and food manufacturer Kellogg could pose a challenge for him as he seeks the nomination.
Carson supported various initiatives at both companies, such as barring discrimination based on gender identity, providing health insurance for employees' domestic partners, and offering more diversity training. Because of such changes the companies now are ranked as some of the best in the United States by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocates.
"I think he has to explain this," said Tony Perkins, president of the Christian conservative lobbying group Family Research Council. "As he is pursuing the presidency, what he has to make clear is that the board positions should not be reflective of his public policy."
Perkins and other conservative leaders say they fear that some of the changes at American corporations could be used to punish employees with unpopular political views. They worry, for instance, that workers who do not support same-sex marriage could be found in violation of anti-discrimination policies.

Both CostCo and Kellogg donate millions of dollars worldwide to fund abortion, to include Planned Parenthood. The title of this thread should read...
"Carson's boardroom support for gay rights and funding for abortion could test his base"
Carly Fiorina has the exact same problem. HP voted one of the best places in the world for the LBGT crowd to work. HP also gives millions to Planned Parenthood.
There is no such thing as “gay rights” unless you are a homoNazi (same thing.)
Unfortunately for the Attack bots, this line of attack is failing miserably with his base.
"I think he has to explain this," said Tony Perkins, president of the Christian conservative lobbying group Family Research Council...
Back to the drawing board Rove bots. This one is not working.
It still a sin to lie no matter how “holy” you believe your cause.
...and I thought to myself: I'll bet it could...
He has flip-flopped more on guns than a fish out of water.
Can’t be trusted on protecting the 2nd. He is a “reasonable restriction” guy, sound familiar?
The MSM fundamentally misunderstands conservative views towards gays. Conservatives have no problem if a private business wants to hire gay people, or serve gay customers, or give the same benefits to gay employees as straight employees. Where conservatives have a problem is when the government steps in and forces businesses against their will to take such actions.
Carson’s statement at the debate was a good one. I think this is a tempest in a teapot, because Carson (if he were to be elected) would not discriminate against Christians and would in fact be a friend.
OTHER CONCERNING ISSUES ON BEN CARSON:
BEN CARSON - ON MEDICAL CARE FOR THE ELDERLY
(He’s for a panel to decide which seniors deserve life saving treatment/end of life care, and which ones don’t)
[[Our mindset is to automatically pull out all medical stop - even if that means literally torturing loved ones during their last few months of life. What if rather than always putting terminally ill patients in intensive care units - where we poke, prod, test, and operate ad nauseum - we allowed most people the dignity of dying in relative peace and comfort, at home, surrounded by loved ones, with hospice care or some other medical attendant if necessary?
Agreement on who should be treated and who should not be treated would require an extensive national discussion that could hopefully result in some helpful basic guidelines. Obviously any such guidelines should allow for flexibility and choice. And decisions should be based not merely on age but on the viability of the patient. (From his 1999 book, The Big Picture.)]]
BEN CARSON - ON THE ABORTION PILL
When asked if he would support abortion in the case of incest or rape, Dr. Carson said, “I would hope that they would very quickly avail themselves of the emergency room, and in the emergency room, they have the ability to administer RU-486 and other possibilities before you have a developing fetus.”
RU-486 is an abortifacient that kills a fertilized egg by artificially denying it the ability to attach to the uterine wall. Using Dr. Carson’s own standard of life beginning at conception, this would then constitute murder. (Politico)

First lying about the bogus cancer cure involvement and now this. This guy should have stuck with his day job.
He’s Obama II. Another lying affirmative action gun grabbing baby killing faggot marrying liberal.
What’s next out of Ben’s closet? Reparations support?
Come on! Surely America has learned its lesson!
NO BEN CARSON.
Actually, I think his support for gun control will be the cause of his fall.
His support for 30% ethanol fuel should cause all his supporters with IQs above 60 to leave.
Satanism (sodomy/baby-killing) DESTROYS moral formation in children-—as does “gun control” but “gun control” just teaches us to trust government more than God-—it doesn’t completely eliminate the Christian Worldview in children or establish Afghani harem boy ethics.
I will not vote for anyone who promotes the muslin, satanic use of the body—which eliminates our Natural Rights from God and makes them from the State/Satan. Sodomy and Baby-Killing flips our “Justice” System to a Vice System and will collapse cultures and corrupt children raised in such a toxic, evil , irrational culture.
Gunn Control and Amnesty. I can’t find a single reason to vote for this mealy mouthed guy. But those two reasons only start the long list of why Not to vote for him.
7. How can a Pacifist be Commander in Chief?
He changed his position on this during the debate, said he didn’t support subsidies. At this point he flip flops when he walks, but at least you can hear him coming.
"Proudfoot said other conservative may be more focused on backing Carson because of his fierce opposition to abortion and give him a pass on the boardroom matters."Well, there you go trying to bring logic into it.
