When CNN decided to get out of the nightly news business, they got Anthony Bourdain to fill the space. I didn’t even know he was a celebrity chef. I thought he was a tour guide. lol

Bourdain had a reasonably successful French-style brasserie in Lower Manhattan called Les Halles. It’s still around, or was in the last year or two when I walked by the location. He’s not involved with it any more.
What really made him was a book called Kitchen Confidential, which was a well-written story of what it’s really like behind the scenes at nice restaurants. There are also a couple of follow-on books. He parlayed that into the TV shows and such.
