Blowing snow caused all kinds of travel problems in the mountains late Tuesday afternoon. U.S. 6 over Loveland Pass was closed because of poor weather conditions. Westbound I-70 at Vail Pass was closed for the same reason.
Traffic was moving slowly throughout the I-70 corridor in the high country. The storm is good news for Loveland Ski Area, which opens Thursday morning.

Yow
Loveland open Oct 29th?
Not bad. Skied there once on June 10th in a snowstorm.
Bring on that snow! I love it!
Enjoy the snow while you can, according to Al Gore we only have 90 days left before the world burns up. All liberals should head for the North Pole while there is still time.
I miss skiing. Sucks to get old.
A little bit of snow is falling in Minneapolis this afternoon also!
30 years ago my wife gave me a “permission” slip to go on my first ski trip and take lessons.
The last time I went skiing was with my son’s college friends about 12 years ago. I put on quite a bit of weight and got out of shape since that trip.
This summer I dropped the weight and got into very good shape by using a Fitbit Charge HR and paying attention to eating and exercise.
I told my wife I was in good enough shape to go skiing again. She said she wouldn’t give me a permission slip, this time! :(
Yep!
Annual snowmobiling trips are now on my bucket list.
Global warming shoveling season already?
“kirkwood”? Sounds like Tahoe to me. Yeah, haven’t been since my back surgery even thought the doc says I could give it a shot if I were so inclined. I know my left calf has atrophied some and still have weakness in my left leg so........... Hard to get down the mountain when you’re going in circles. LOL! Couple of friends teach at one of the Tahoe resorts.
I was mostly a Utah and Whistler skier and did trips to the Italian Alps. Never got to do the complete Sella Ronda, but I did parts of it every year.
Awesome. Mostly did CO, NM, UT, NV and CA. Never did any in the eastern states.
Don’t mean to offend but this sounds like weather.
We had some 10 knot winds today. And it drizzled a bit.
The sun’s going down and it might get into night in a while.
Have fun.
WHAT? Oh, climate is the prediction, weather is what we actually get. The prediction for our area is for rain/snow Monday and Tuesday. Guess we’ll see “weather” that happens or not. Hoping yes.
As Charlton Heston would say in “Planet of the Apes”, “Damn you Global Warming”.
Climate change in effect. Moving from fall to winter.
This year’s trip for me is to Park City/Canyons. I was just in Zermatt last year and loved Breuil-Cervinia on the Italian side. Would like to ski the Dolomites some day too.
You’re never too old. I have a few good friends in our club that are in their 70s that still ski almost as hard as I do. I hope I’m still going at it 20 years from now.
“You’re never too old.”
Yes, you eventually do get too old. Bones get brittle, reaction time slows, your sense of balance is not what it was, ligaments are completely gone after multiple falls over the years, you get out of shape, and you have more trouble with the altitude. The peak age for skiers in 25 to 30. Less than 5% of skiers are over 65, and it isn’t because they are bored with it. They just aren’t physically capable any longer.
