SENECA, S.C. No criminal charges will be filed against a South Carolina police officer who fatally shot a 19-year-old during a drug sting, a state prosecutor announced Tuesday.
Solicitor Chrissy Adams said that after reviewing the case, she has determined Seneca officer Mark Tiller won't face state charges. The U.S. Department of Justice also is investigating, and Adams said she won't release additional information while those federal authorities decide whether they'll bring charges against Tiller.
The family of the 19-year-old, Zachary Hammond, wanted Adams removed from the case because she works closely with local police, but the state Supreme Court rejected the request.

Video proves that the little pot head was driving at the cop and got what he deserved.
Or so the cops would have you believe.
Watch the video here:
What is the significance of the red circles in the photos at the top? What am I missing?
Poor Zachary. Born white. Died white.
If he was black - that cop would have been fired and charged.
He was armed with a car.
No idea. Sorry.
Bull$***. The kid was driving away and the cop shot him. For all we know - the “little pothead” may not even been smoking. Looks like the lowlife he was transporting might have told me him to pull away.
Ejected cases to show that the officer was firing his handgun?
Lots of people are.
That looks like murder.
Officer was not in danger.
Test him for steroids.
racist! err umm no, they’re both white...how does this work again?
Throw some kid from a chair in a classroom = fired and an FBI probe.
Kill some kid driving away in a car? Wrist slap.
Course race has plenty to do with things. Reverse the races, and a white kid being tossed would be ignored.
White lives don’t matter.
Seneca has grown over the years, but still a pretty small town...the cop could have just stepped back out of the way once he decided to run, like he’s doing while shooting...wouldn’t have been too hard to find this kid later and actually arrest him vs. shooting him.
Looks like the cops failed to box him in properly, giving him the option to attempt to flee.
Wasnt driving AT him at all.
In the video hes driving PASSED him, no danger at all.
Cop didnt want to give chase.
Honky, ergo media silence.
Agreed.
I concur.
I think trying to parse the event after the fact from a video is not going to work here. I see enough reasonable doubt that there is no point in trying the officer.
This would seem to fall under the fleeing felon rules.
Trying to run over the cop is a felony, I think.
You can try to divide this up and say the car was not pointed at the officer during some of the shooting. That’s likely technically true.
But it was being driven towards the officer at one point. An officer who already had his gun out, and had already confronted the driver.
We also have an undercover cop present, with a gun.
Why not just stop when a cop is pointing a gun at you and telling you to stop?
Why are you backing up towards the police car in the first place?
victim was white so media won’t care.
reference point for comparison photo to photo
He a never tried to run over the cop. Ever.
