Senate passes controversial cybersecurity bill Cisa 74 to 21
The Guardian ^ | 10/27/2015 | Sam Thielman

Sam Thielman The Senate, ignorant on cybersecurity, just passed a bill about it anyway. The US Senate overwhelmingly passed a controversial cybersecurity bill critics say will allow the government to collect sensitive personal data unchecked, over the objections of civil liberties groups and many of the biggest names in the tech sector. The vote on Tuesday was 74 to 21 in support of the legislation. (snip) None of the Republican presidential candidates (except Lindsey Graham, who voted in favor) were present to cast a vote, including Rand Paul, who has made privacy from surveillance a major plank of his campaign platform. Ahead of the vote a group of university professors specializing in tech law, many from the Princeton Center for Information Technology Policy, sent an open letter to the Senate, urging them not to pass the bill. The bill, they wrote, would fatally undermine the Freedom of Information Act (Foia). Led by Princeton’s David S Levine, the group joined a chorus of critics including many of the largest technology companies, notably Apple, and National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Edward Snowden in calling for Cisa to be scrapped. Cisa would “allow ‘voluntary’ sharing of heretofore private information with the government, allowing secret and ad hoc privacy intrusions in place of meaningful consideration of the privacy concerns of all Americans,” the professors wrote. “The Freedom of Information Act would be neutralized". (snip) The American Banking Association and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) applauded the passage of Cisa was negotiated and marked up in secret. The US Chamber of Commerce has been the only consistent champion of the legislation outside the halls of the Senate (snip) The data in question would come from private industry, which mines everything from credit card statements to prescription drug purchase records to target advertising and product lines.

Good ideas -
All except Tor.
Do Not Use It or even install it.
Tor installation attracts interest by DOJ, Homeland Security, SS for Electronic crimes database.
Told that at Agency briefing...

Finally, CISA allows / encourages your Internet service provider and phone company to Share All of your site traffic data with gov’t agencies.

Just where does one ‘voluntarily’ sign-off for approval? Page 26 S. 13 A. 9 Sub-S B-1 of 900 pages of lawyer-speak?

Just how ‘voluntary’ are we talking? I=9 (Oh, you don’t HAVE to sign it, but you can’t get a job w/out it. And, signing said form presumes you give up your 4th/5th A. Rights)? Seat belt (’Oh, we’ll NEVER pull someone over just for not wearing their seat belt’)? Voluntary, then requested, then mandated.

NEVER give ‘em an inch!! I guess these jack-asses forget there’s an election coming up? It’s a damn short list of those who fought FOR Freedom and Liberty vs. ‘the rest’.

If you think you can continue to play by the rules and institutions that have been corrupted by and for the Oligarchs and their dictatorship - you are hopelessly lost in a delusional state of Normalcy Bias.

It is not about being desperate. It is about understanding the reality we now exit in. Knowing the ground and environment and the capabilities of the enemies now ruling us so that we can act in the appropriate matter towards our defense.

Even Mark Levin will tell you that we are no longer a Republic. We have been fundamentally transformed in a velvet coup, and the longer it takes for enough Americans to recognize where we have been taken, the greater the cost is going to be later.

We are being subjugated, and every and all remedial tools we had, have been perverted, corrupted and abolished.. save one.

And the enemy is already prepared for, and prodding and attempting to incite a response that is the only thing that we have left as a recourse against them. Meanwhile, we are told by well-intentioned bravos such as yourself - that we should not see reality, rather we should see what we hope for.

As such, I now understand how it was that entire population of people walked themselves into genocide.

They refused to understand what was happening to them, because it was just too much for them to handle.

Mark Levin would tell you that Free Repulic is a source of information. Sometimes you need to take it in instead of preach it!

He also told us he was an inch from leaving the GOP before they funded barrycare twce more, armed terrorists, passed several continuing spending sprees, tanked Marriage and the rest. So his word on things leaves something to be suspect of.

That’s a Galactic inch. Thats just the truth.

Not sure how failing to live up to ones statements is a good thing when one bases his schtick on being a conservative but whatever.

Not if you do it through a vpn. I can pop out of a non-logging server in japan, for example, download whatever I want. Install, run. My vpn is set up so internet access is blocked it it isn’t on. I can switch it so I then pop out in Hong Kong. Or Sweden, or...

Which I do. And I run tor, and have been for years. I’m sure there are people under communist rule who use my rig to access the internet freely. That’s why I do it. All perfectly legal, and it drives china nuts. And Cuba. And control freaks everywhere.

My. What a cheerful bunch on this thread.

So Politics is dead to us. So what’s new? That we already know. Or should know. Our Lord Jesus Christ had a pretty good handle on caesar back 2000 years ago and the nature of caesar hasn’t changed much in the years since.

Politics is caesars game. Played by caesars rules, and run by caesars select minions. We shouldn’t be all that surprised or upset when caesar happens to win at his own game. Thankfully the world consists of a whole lot more than politics.

Why do you post here? If all is lost, what is your purpose - to get as many people as possible to give up?

Seriously. Why are you here?

Stick the your old crap in your ear ass hole. Age is a sign that I REMEMBER this nation BEFORE the commies took over!!! I remember it when Sunday was a quiet day, families going to church together. Now, they want to put Christians in jail, or even kill us. I served during a time when it was not popular to join the military. But I joined. If you cannot see that this nation is going under you are blind as the MSM news reporter. I remember this country when it was great. I don’t believe it is great any longer. You continue down your fairy tail road.
