The planning stages for TCMS XI are in the works. At this point the plan is to hold the event in October 2016. (Yes, I know that is a looonnnggg way away!) The range we are considering is Hiciksville Range, in Gatesville. The closest lodging we could find is in Whitney.
We have already had one recon trip, which was not very productive due to heavy rains. The entire recon crew checked out one of the places we are considering staying. The majority of us fell in love with the place, even though it was a gloomy weekend. It made for some fun joking about being the perfect place to film a horror movie, especially with the creepy & trashy road to the resort. We all agreed that the pavilion was awesome; it is big enough to hold all of us without bumping into each other.
NYTexan & BuckeyeTexan checked out the other place. I liked it from looking at their website, but was not impressed with the pictures that Buckeye sent me. She & I are going to do another recon so that I can see it in person. There is also one more location we will look at. The one negative for both of those places is the size of their pavilions ~ we need lots of room to move & mingle.
Next week Eaker, humblegunner and I are going to Hicksville Range for a look see and discuss pricing.
Stay tuned for more info . . .
Maybe we should wait until after the election....
WHOO-HOO!!! Six months! I hope we’ll all be able to make it there. I know anything can happen in that amount of time. We have our reservations set. We look forward to being there, Lord willing.
Woo hoo!
Will be there with bells on!
Looking forward to it!

Looking forward to seeing y’all there!
We talk and cook and drink and eat and talk some more
and it’s hella good all the way around, tell you what.
Oh, I forgot.. we blast up the range,too...
You’ll be amazed at some of the hardware what shows up...
It sounds like a super-cool time!
I hate to admit it, but all we have right now is a shotgun. That may not be the case by then, though. We’ll see.
Irrelevant.
You could show up with nothing and still shoot all day, picking from
20 or 30 different pistols and probably a larger number of rifles.
It's like a gun show where you actually get to shoot whatever appeals to you.
More than once I've gotten home with a couple pieces what didn't even get uncased.
I can attest to the truth of this.
I brought four rifles and only uncased two.
And one of my handguns stayed in the trunk as well.
So if someone was to appear empty handed so to speak,
I could help out in such a situation.
I have a feeling others could as well.
In fact the mood is one of eagerness to share the
experience of your nicer and more unusual pieces
with the friends you meet there.
That’s swell! I would want to know how to help fund the ammunition, though—what we could bring to contribute or maybe just pitch in money, because ammunition is expensive.
Also easy peasy.
I’ll shoot (pun intended) you a list of what I’m bringing
and you determine which you want to shoot and bring ammo
for them.
Excellent! Thanks, HG.
Bring some .22LR ammo, if you can find it. It’s as good or better than money/gold.
Could you add me to the ping list. I have been drooling every year at yooz guys havin fun and being normal.
Who can tell if the opportunity will arise to be close by when the shin-dig commences.
Its probly pretty weird meeting folks in person that you have been screaming at over the internet for more than a decade, but I really would like to give it a try. You just never can tell.
Okey dokey! Thanks, SF!
You would love it.
It’s always neutral ground at the gathering of the clans.
Well if’n ya caint talk about politicks ner religion, aint much left to do ‘cept go shootin then maybe pull a cork.
Oh, everything gets talked about, it just seems to take a better tone.
Even folks from different factions wind up friends.
Then we cook a big old mess of chow and start over the next day.
I have been lurking with envy on these threads.
Its a drive down to Waco. I need to do some math.
Aw hell everybody does a little meth sometimes.
Oh Yikes! The gun range is just outside Gatesville?
I did a year or so at Ft. Hood during my mis-spent youth. I remember some of it.
