How do I know it's not Google Chrome that has been hacked and if I hit "Back to Safety" I'm screwed?

I don't get it on every thread, and then only when I try to reply?

IE is working OK for me...and I’m using to post this reply.

However, Chrome is all sucked-up. FR loads OK but every thread I click gives me a red screen warning of malware.
