Some have defended the officer, many pointing out that the video isn’t complete. It doesn’t show what happened before, including what the student did and how many times authorities — a teacher, a school administrator and finally the officer, Richland County Sheriff’s Deputy Ben Fields — had asked her to get up.

...

Videos usually don’t tell the complete story.

Her (2nd girl) mother, Doris Kenny, said she's proud her daughter was "brave enough to speak out against what was going on."

I can confirm that neither the videos nor the DBM's stories accurately portray what really happened.

The girl had been asked to put away her cell phone and when she didn’t authorities were called in from the principal to the police officer. Then she refused still. With the excuse of “I didn’t hurt anyone you can’t do this to me”. “Cops are supposed to help, not hurt, people”. They are learning at a young age to defy authority and it disgusts me. Nothing wrong with defying authority when you are right, but when you are clearly wrong, it is not acceptable. There will be no law and order pretty soon. I always thought if I were a teacher I would confiscate ALL cell phones until the end of class, but I guess I wouldn’t be allowed to after all.

Sounds like students learned something in class for a change: Comply - Don't Die

Better than out on the street.

This future Welfare Brood Mare just got her first lesson about respecting authority.

When the faculty realized the student was a near saint and black, they notified the SO to send a white cop to kick her ass. This poor child will be traumatized forever./s

Details of this incident aren’t relevant beyond the fact that the student was black and the deputy was white.

I have noticed that schools with large numbers of feral Amish students do not have mass shootings. I assume that is because those types of schools are not gun free zones. Those types of school have school police, probably armed, on campus. I wonder what else is going on at that school.

A lot will depend on the officer’s motives. Maybe he was just trying to prepare her for the challenges of modern marriage.

OK, after the student is asked to leave the room 3-4 times by 3 different people AND SHE REFUSES, just exactly what approach/action should be taken next?

If that student was asked to hand over her cell phone while in class and she disobeyed the officer, I hope he really took her out.

It certainly doesn’t look good, but three people asked her over and over to leave the class. She refused. How are they supposed to get her out?

Were they required to surrender and leave her in the class? Would anyone in the school have any authority afterward? She brought this down on herself.

It would look hideous to see a person get shot by the police when he refused to drop his gun. But again, what are the options? This incident is some steps down, but the principle is the same. Civil authority has to be upheld, or it is anarchy.
