Outrage after South Carolina officer throws, arrests student in classroom
cnn.com ^ | October 27, 2015 | Holly Yan, Greg Botelho and Kevin Conlon

(CNN)The video shows a South Carolina school resource officer standing over a student, seated at her desk. He puts his arm near her neck, then yanks her backward. The desk tips over and the student crashes onto the floor.

The uniformed officer doesn't let go, sharply tugging the student toward the front of the classroom. She flies out of her desk and slides several feet across the floor.

"Give me your hands," the officer says.

His is the only voice heard. Other students sit calmly and quietly, one of them covering his face with his hand.

Yet many haven't been so quiet since the footage out of Columbia, South Carolina, surfaced.

Some have defended the officer, many pointing out that the video isn't complete. It doesn't show what happened before, including what the student did and how many times authorities -- a teacher, a school administrator and finally the officer, Richland County Sheriff's Deputy Ben Fields -- had asked her to get up.

I have experienced the situation from the point of view of an alternative high school teacher.

The bottom line for me was that none of my ed school training seemed to work for diehard Amish male student rebels. After several (non physical) altercations, the school administrators passively sided with several Amish rebellious male students and decided not to renew my contract. There was lots of drama and lewd conduct. I decided I was fortunate to escape the school without physical harm to me.

I would have told all the students to leave the classroom and waited for the end of the day and when she left would not have let her back in.She had to prove her point in front of all her peers.

“There is no excuse for violence inside a school,” Clinton tweeted. “The #AssaultAtSpringValleyHigh is unacceptable — schools should be safe places. -H”

So should American Embassies.

If that insubordinate student had harmed other students security and the teacher would have been sued for failing to remove the problem student.

I ran into a situation like that once. The security guard called the city police. The gang squad came in and took the brat out in handcuffs!

Yes, if that had been the South Carolina school cop making that stop, I'm sure that girl would now have pavement burns on her face.

Yeppers, if I were that cop, there would be pavement burns as well, and justifiably so!

Cops, Who the public has spent thousands and thousands of dollars to train and equip, put themselves and the public in DANGER if they don’t handle these types of incidents with FORCE.

Don’t want to follow reasonable instructions? Be ready for a justifiable beat down, idiots!

There was also that bit about the fundamental transformation of America, and that bit about standing with the mohammedans ...

The Kenyan Kommunist Kleptocrat wasn’t kidding there, either.

The rest of the class should have been taken out of the room and this girl LEFT IN and kept in. Till parents showed up, school ended or she handed over phone and apologized. Then a nice long suspension. Now she is a forever victim.

And Hillary wasted no time in chiming in:

He had no choice.

Bullshit. He's just another one of the out-of-control Rambo types that seen to be the preferred choice of officers for all law enforcement agencies these days.

“OK, after the student is asked to leave the room 3-4 times by 3 different people AND SHE REFUSES, just exactly what approach/action should be taken next?”

Teachers USED to have the authority to “escort” the brats right out the classroom door at varying velocities dependent upon the strength of the teacher. Today of course that is child abuse and maybe sexual battery, so the cops have to be called in for the muscle work. The brats know every trick in the book, and know there will be some big $$$$ in it for them from the inevitable lawsuit. (Why did she not scream or cry out? Sounds like a set-up)! America in 2015 is just SUCH a wonderful country! /s;)

Hillary, go pee up a rope, you old drunken hypocrite! When Hitlery orders you to do something, YOU DO IT!!! She has a very well documented history of that! The only thing she has never been able to do is order Bill to keep it in his pants!;)

Nobody likes to say this, but blacks bring (perception of?) violence, drugs, crime, and decay wherever they are in any sizable numbers. May be centuries of slavery and racism are behind the root cause... after all, they look a bit different from others, so, combine with historical racism and modern alienation (economically, socially, and racially), they are left out and lash out.

Yes but if you make a rule and someone in the class openly defies the rule, how can you keep that person in the classroom setting that horrible example? You tell them to give you their cell phone, they say no, you just go on about your class because you know you will flunk them in the end? No make sense.

Since the parents are ultimately responsible and pay for the cellphone....perhaps a fee for disruption (say $100 for the first episode, $1000 for the second) would get their attention. Either they’d correct her real quick or help to support the school in various financial ways.
