The conventional wisdom among Donald Trumps detractors is that his current surge in the polls wont last because as we get closer to actual voting, Republicans excited by his political incorrectness will start factoring in electability. When GOP voters realize that he cant beat Hillary Clinton, the theory goes, they will switch their support to other more electable candidates.
One problem with that theory: Right now, GOP voters believe Trump is the most electable candidate.
A new Post/ABC News poll asked GOP-leaning voters which candidate has the best chance of getting elected president in November 2016? The winner was Trump by a landslide. An incredible 43 percent of GOP voters say that Trump is the most electable GOP candidate. In a distant second place, Ben Carson trails Trump on electability by 27 points, while Jeb Bush whose entire rationale for his campaign is electability trails Trump on electability by 30 points. Since the same poll found Trump with 32 percent support, that means even GOP voters who do not support Trump still believe he is most likely to beat the Democrats in 2016. A new Associated Press-GfK pollconfirms this, finding that Seven in 10 Republicans and Republican-leaning registered voters say they think Trump could win in November 2016 if he were nominated; thats the most of any Republican candidate.

Particularly immigration, and jobs.
Immigration and jobs. Trump is completely right about these two, very large issues.
Nobody else is saying what Trump is saying.
America first.
Rather than fade, Trump support is hardening. Those who he has on board will be with him to the end. He and his supporters now need to concentrate on winning over the undecided. My sense is there are a lot of thinking liberals who are giving Trump hard look.
What part of “NO MORE BUSHES OR CLINTONS don’t they understand?
Most of all, he waited---unlike some of his competitors---to staff up in a lot of these states, thus not wasting money.
I don't think the professionalism of his campaign staff is appreciated.
Or it’s because, despite the Trump effect, the GOP continues to roll over for The Messiah.
“Trump has taken bold stands on several issues, which Americans are very enthused about.
Particularly immigration, and jobs.”
And Trade, Americans are getting our collective clocks cleaned because of years of un-balanced trade deals. American recognizes that we need a deal maker that can restore America’s preeminence in world trade.
I agree completely. 100%.
That is why I mentioned jobs. China, and Mexico, and every other country are completely taking advantage of Americans in jobs, and a good portion of the “American” establishment is right there with them.
Trump is for American jobs. He’s the only guy out there, saying the things he is saying, about bringing jobs back here to America.
Trump is it.
He is so right about these issues.
Judging by rally turnout, voters already decided on electability.

Trump is running better in the states with more ‘moderate’ Republicans voters where the insiders hoped Jeb would be leading.
He is perceived because of his business experience as electable by non-conservative voters and has a good share of the more conservative ones in the GOP behind him as well.
Flat out because the GOPe betrayed us again, but for the last time. Now it’s time to bury any illusion we can achieve our means with them in charge and get rid of them entirely. They won’t go quietly, but they will GO...
That’s the way I see it too.
Trump gets elected first and foremost on illegal immigration ALONE, and that issue pleases voters across the board, including democrats and Hispanics, neither who can openly admit it.
Who else has that kind of cross over? The other candidates have a record, acting as virtually squishes on immigration, even ISIS refugees. Crickets. But not Trump.
Second, Trump rebuilds a Hell on Wheels Armed Forces from the ground up, since it is presently stripped dead and run by Leftists. Who else has muttered a word about that?
Those two issues are vital to our survival. Period.
Who else but Trump is a FORCE of personality and determination and confidence that generates American pride enough to ever make a stand. And, it’s now or never.
If Trump can be taken out then we can be assured that no other pretty boy conservative on our side will have a prayer of standing against the COMPLEX, which is only just beginning to amass against Trump.
They intend to Remember Mississippi, and take out all but for the Establishment pick. We know their game. Let’s just see who it’s going to be.
Trump. All the way, baby.
And notice that while he continues to say that his wife and his daughter Ivanka will be campaigning for him they still aren't?
He first said they would be on stage in September, then October, and still they are quiet.
I think that's because he doesn't need them yet and is holding back until such time when the polls are truly down for him he can bring them out for a new excitement and attention.
Even The Donald must be surprised at the countries desire for a real leader.
Thank God America is awakening.
So I think in a lot of ways he is running a campaign that in itself speaks to the kind of fiscal prudence we NEED in a chief executive. Can't say the same about Cruz or Carson, who are raising a ton of money, and spending a ton.
I offer there is another, more fundamental reason trump still has so much support. In a word: Betrayal.
So many voters feel betrayed by the republicans and the whole government apparatus that they will take anyone who has a chance of beating those who have betrayed us - who happen to be synonymous with the political establishment. - both dem and republican.
And then he DEFENDS himself and his stands, rather then letting the Democrat-Media Complex run roughshod over him and then backing down.
He's not playing to the "silent majority", he's playing to the "F U majority".
The media have tried everything to stop Trump. They just can’t accept that he’s going to get the nomination. This is Reagan ‘79 all over again.
At least the the GOPE accepted Reagan after he beat Bush and mostly stopped attacking him then. We’ll see what happens after Trump beats Jebito and Rubito.
“At least the the GOPE accepted Reagan after he beat Bush and mostly stopped attacking him then. Well see what happens after Trump beats Jebito and Rubito.”
At some point the Geriatric Old Plotters club becomes so marginal, so useless, and so withered, that it will be burned off like a wart.
Lots of Democrats will give Trump a hard look.
He opposes trade deals. Lots of union guys love that.
Lots of Blacks (dirty little secret) do not want any more Hispanics coming and dislodging them from their spot as #! Most Oppressed Minority.
He is also for single payer healthcare. I’m not, but
I’ve come to the conclusion that we’re going to end up
with it in any case as Obamacare is imploding.
