Editorial: In Waco case, biker gangs earning more trust than prosecutors
Dallas News ^ | 26 October 2015 | Editor

Right after the May 17 motorcycle-gang shootout in Waco, this newspaper’s inclination was to believe law enforcers’ account that the nine deaths and 22 injuries were the result of hardened criminal thugs waging a deadly turf battle. But the longer this bizarre case plays out, the more credible the bikers look, and the more it appears that McLennan County officials have something to hide.

DA has found himself in a hole, and doesn't have sense enough to quit digging.

I bet they thought it would be business as usual but there are too many eyeballs watching this case.

In Journalism school that means the Police Executed All of them, but it was the Biker’s fault, they made them shoot.

Must be hard to admit you are gullible and stupid, as well as being morally bankrupt. Why do people still believe the Police about anything??

My thoughts exactly. The police killed all nine of these people and they’re desperate to hide the evidence because they were HOPING that at least SOME of the victims would have been killed by someone else so they could justify the slaughter.

The Waco police are murderers and the DA is executing a conspiracy to cover it up and that judge with the gag-order should also be held to account for his part in the conspiracy to obstruct justice!

No one trusts any level of government to do the right thing any more. Conservatives know that government is inherently corrupt and has become worse over the past couple of generations, which is why we want to shrink government. Liberals agree on the facts, but that is why they want government expanded. They expect to benefit from its corruption.

Funny thing about the paper's position, nothing has changed since the incident, other than the passage of time. So, after the brawl, they dod not find it odd that 177 people were accused of criminal gang conspiracy. Now they find the accusation to have been wrongly applied in a majority of the cases.

Most people found the accusations inappropriate, right off the bat.

The DA is hiding many things related to this case. He's sure to find some judges to stand behind him, such is the nature of the criminal fabrication apparatus.

I suspect that the BATFE were there along with the FBI and others.

A recent article I read said that forensics showed that all the deceased were shot with .223/5.56. I’ve been a “biker” for a few years, I have a CHL in Texas and have been to hundreds of theses CoCI meetings. Maybe I aint the sharpest crayon in the drawer but I never saw many bikers carrying AR15s on their bikes as a general rule.

The newspaper's inclination was to be credulous beyond reason. Come on -- 117 allies of "hardened criminal thugs" with totally clean records? In the state of Texas, and all but one were Texas residents?

Absence of criminal history in so many charged with conspiracy to commit murder and/or aggravated assault, is pretty credible evidence that the cops arrested a bunch of law-abiding Sunday mom-and-pop bikers and treated them like they were all ex-con biker bad-asses ala reality TV.

I guess five months for the newspaper to finally get the picture with regard to what is credible as opposed to being credulous ain't bad ... *rolls eyes*

True dat. The DA and other involved statists and tools of the Obama BATF need to remember the old adage “the coverup is worse than the crime”. Although in this case the crime is horrendous with men killed and wounded and the lives of innocents destroyed by the Waco government’s persecution of every biker they could lay hands upon.

The stench from Waco is overwhelming.

The Dallas Morning News is very much an establishment paper. Crony Captialism is something with which they are very much on board. So one shouldn’t expect them to be quick to turn against the establishment. And if they have done so, there aren’t many folks left to support the Waco crowd.

Well, about time. Even so, they aren't taking sides yet, just beginning to question.

How long does it take to caliper/mike out the bullets recovered, weigh the fragments, and determine preliminary ballistics data, anyway? (None has been released yet).

Or is someone waiting for the evidence to become 'misplaced'...like a certain steel door at the last Waco Massacre.

Without ballistics data, it is still unclear. The glacial speed with which such information has been presented tends to make a person think there is something to hide. It would not be the first time the prosecution has buried Brady Material.

I am extremely pro law enforcement, but you are right. There is a real stench about this case.
