Putin Slams US for Supporting Terrorism When Politically Convenient
Liberty News ^ | 10/23/2015 | Staff

Moscow — Vladimir Putin fiercely derided the U.S.’ current bombing campaign in Syria during a speech before the Valdai Club, saying, “It is impossible to prevail over terrorism if some of the terrorists are being used as a battering ram to overthrow undesirable regimes.”

Deftly weaving a tongue-in-cheek attack on the schizophrenic American involvement in the Middle East, Putin stated that “It’s always hard to play a double game — to declare a fight against terrorists but at the same time try to use some of them to move the pieces on the Middle Eastern chessboard in your favor. There’s no need to play with words and split terrorists into moderate and not moderate. I would like to know what the difference is.”

And the U.S. has, indeed, engaged in the international battle against terrorism in Syria. However, Russia and others claim that campaign’s choice to distinguish between ‘degrees’ to which groups are considered ‘terrorist’ (i.e. moderate, extreme) — by all appearances, a hierarchical categorization based solely on the ability of said group to further U.S. interests — has muddied the situation in the region considerably, instead.

“What is the difference?” Putin asked, unintentionally parroting Hillary Clinton — adding that “in the opinion of some experts… so-called moderate bandits behead people moderately or gently.”

Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed Thursday it had struck 72 different terrorist targets in Syria over the past 24 hours, according to Yahoo News, further claiming it has now quashed the region’s primary terrorist groups’ combat capabilities.

“As a result of Russian airstrikes, the main forces of terrorist groups, made up of the best-trained terrorists, have lost combat capability. Their command and resupply system has been disrupted,” Andrei Kartopolov, a senior military official, told Russian news outlets, though the claims are unverified.

He went on to say Russia’s 934 sorties have destroyed 819 “terrorist targets”in the Hama, Idlib, Latakia, Damascus, Aleppo, and Deir Ezzor provinces — including a bridge over the Euphrates River that had been vital to a supply chain arming fighters from neighboring Iraq.

On Tuesday, Syrian Army officials denied receiving aid from Russian ground forces — an accusation Syrian news agency SANA wrote off as“baseless and mere propaganda.”

Russia claims the American mission’s focus remains zeroed in on ousting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad by arming and aiding the oddly-monikered ‘moderate’ terrorist groups — while the U.S. holds fast to its narrative that Russia’s presence is merely to aid his defense.

Competing versions of precisely what is taking place in Syria — as contradictory as they might be — share lingering doubts about U.S.’ motives:

How did Russia effect such extensive damage to ISIS in just three weeks when American forces couldn’t manage the same in a year?

I don’t think Putin is scratching his head and wondering. I think he sees it for exactly what it is.

I'm sure your right, but he has to be scratching his head trying to understand HOW Americans were so deceived. I'm not sure he likes what has happened to us, I sense a degree of PITY, but OH well on with his own agenda. He can't believe how easy it will be to destroy American his way.lol

Obama intended to hand America over to his MUSLIM brotherhood, but AWWWWWW wait just a darn minute, Putin has other plans. Unbelievably easy for Putin.

And believing Pravda more than the U.S. Newsmedia!

When the U.S. Propaganda Machine announces that Putin is a KGB Thug, it immediately occurs to me that there's no difference between a KGB Thug and a U.S. Democrat Politician.

Yes, I wonder myself how so many Americans can be so stupid.

I think Putin is probably concerned that a loose cannon as powerful as the United States is beset upon the world.

The Russian people are aware of Mark Dice's canvass of people in California who agreed with the absurd ideas of attacking Russia (today!), setting up Nazi style concentration camps in the U.S., etc. Such Leftist insanity is frightening enough to us, but imagine how it is perceived in other nations. And this is only a tiny glimpse into the madness of the decadent, degenerate U.S. Left, which has seized control of the United States.

You can be sure that the Russians are monitoring the United States very closely. And the mass insanity of the U.S. Left that they witness can only frighten and disturb them immensely.

Fortunately, they are also aware of the millions of sane, responsible Americans who oppose the insane left. They probably read Free Republic regularly. Hello, Boris!

"Sure he is a corrupt despot."

No more than the Democrat politicians who are running the United States.

Yes, Obama has made a mess of things and is playing a double game. But if Putin wants to use the term “terrorists” to mean “armed combatants”, he needs to be consistent. Terrorists use dramatic attacks against (mostly) civilian targets to undermine regimes, force their agenda onto the front burner, and gain political objectives when they conventional military options. ISIS burns people in cages, kidnaps girls for mass rape, destroys ancient monuments, etc. to get media attention to sow terror to get their way. ISIS operates as terrorists, even in military strength, yet Putin’s focus is not on ISIS.

Why are irregular forces fighting Assad’s army on the battlefield “terrorists”, if Putin’s proxy forces in Ukraine are not? How about Putin’s forces fighting in Syria — how are they different from the anti-Assad elements? Are Assad’s own forces “terrorists” when they use poisoned gas or bomb and shell cities, but not when they fight the rebels on the battlefield? Enough BS.

Putin & Lavrov v Obama & Kerry

Marxists v neo-marxists (who need training wheels and helmets to prevent bike accidents)

What you have said here is exactly right:
"Russia moving in under the pretense of ridding the region of ISIS is like the Mafia moving to your neighborhood under the pretense of moving out a violent street gang, then setting up a permanent base there to do Mob “business”.

"Russia will grow wealthier, more powerful, more aggressive in their overall expansionist agenda (Eastern Europe, eventually elsewhere), and much more of a threat to the US and its allies throughout the region and the world.

"Sure it’s great IF they actually do get rid of ISIS (we shall see). But having a country like Russia step in and gain such huge strategic advantage over the US and its allies is nothing we should be cheering about.

However, I do not think that Obama and Putin are in cahoots about this.

Putin is seizing an enormous advantage as the United States and the other Western nations sink deeper and deeper in a quagmire of decadence, self-destruction, mass insanity, and mass cultural suicide. As they abandon their positions of power and influence in the world, Putin sees not only the opportunity to expand Russia's power to fill the power-vacuum, but also the necessity to do so, because, if he doesn't, some other power--e.g. China, ISIS, Iran, or something else--will; so he really doesn't have a choice.

If the Americans are going to succumb to mass insanity and suicide--and they seem determined to do exactly that!--someone or something is going to seize power over them and the rest of the world. Vladimir Putin is positioning himself to be the one to do it. From his point of view, why would he allow anyone else to do it?
