An obscure Louisiana State university professor named Sean Illing, writing for leftist rag Salon, attacked GOP presidential candidates for espousing their Christian beliefs at a Christian rally at a Dallas-area megachurch, asserting insanely that no one in the Republican party cares about the U.S. Consitution, including star of the show Senator Ted Cruz.
Lets put aside the hilarious assumption that the GOP doesnt care about the Constitution (well get back to that) and focus on the charge that Cruz doesnt care about the Constitution. Illing, an esteemed intellect who obtained his bachelors degree at LSU, then had to travel to the hallowed University of West Florida for his masters degree (Harvard, Yale, Stanford, et al, were unavailable, for some strange reason) stated, Cruz regaled the audience with inflated warnings about threats to religious liberty in America. Religious liberty is under threat as never before in this country, Cruz declared, adding that he would not surrender on issues like gay marriage, no matter what the law or the general will or the Supreme Court says because I guess thats how it works in a democracy.
Lets pause for a moment to examine Cruzs unimpressive academic and professional credentials:
Whew.
Oh, about intellectual giant Illings charge that religious liberty is not threatened in America?
In truth, the left is scared s***less of Cruz; he combines a fierce intellect with a willingness to go to the wall for conservative principles that simply terrifies them and the Republican establishment.
Hmm. How about here, here, here, here, and here, just for starters.
In reality, the intellectual pygmy Illing criticizing Cruz, a man who was described by legendary Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz, a confessed liberal, as off-the-charts brilliant, for not caring about the Constitution boggles the mind.
In truth, the left is scared s***less of Cruz; he combines a fierce intellect with a willingness to go to the wall for conservative principles that simply terrifies them and the Republican establishment.
As far as the charge that the GOP cares nothing for the Constitution, let us remind the self-satisfied Illing that it is the left that seeks to destroy the Constitution by resorting to the use of judicial fiat rather than the legislative process, as seen here, and suggested here.
The puny Illing finally concludes, What you saw on that stage was indeed the fruit of a harvest of decades of work, but it wasnt God who gave Christians a greater role in government; it was the Republican Party who sold their souls to the religious right.
Strange how that works; Illing slams the Christians in the GOP for being parochial, yet which party strongly supports the Jewish state of Israel? Which partys Evangelical president, according to Bono, did an "amazing" job in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa? And which partys president, who has mocked both Judaism and Christianity, stands idly by while Christian children are raped and slaughtered by ISIS and Jewish children on bicycles are knifed by Palestinians?
Give me Christians every time.
No. Everyone hates cockroaches.
