I try to explain why everyone should have at least some form of health insurance. 60% of Americans have less than $1000 net worth. How can they take responsibility for their own hospital bills without insurance?
I believe in self reliance. When people end up in a hospital with an accident or serious illness, and do not have have insurance, others foot the bill via higher premiums. How is that conservative? Whatever happened to self-reliance?
