So the critical question is, who will look better in a potential Trump-Cruz debate? That may make a critical difference just as it did in 1960.

**************

That’s pretty interesting. Let me see if I’ve got it right. If Donald Trump debates Kate Upton, Ms. Upton will be President?

Cruz can’t connect with the average voter.

No, you don't have it right at all.

ANYONE who has even a casual familiarity with politics knows that appearances count for something, that a candidate's persona visually comes across as positive or negative, so all things being equal, voters are going to be influenced by how the candidate carries themselves, their overall demeanor, facial expressions and the like.

So the simple minded suggestion that 'If Kate Upton debates Donald Trump means that Upton wins' is a bit more complicated than that. Now if Upton has as firm a grasp on the issues as does Trump, and espouses similar and compatible views, you might be on to something.

Or you just might be on something.

(note: the JFK-Nixon debates I referenced were unique in that not only were they the first televised debates of two presidential candidates, the first debate began with Nixon stating that he was in general agreement with nearly everything JFK was advocating, and yet TV viewers were more favorably impressed with JFK's visuals, believing he 'won' the debate, as opposed to radio listeners who believed Nixon had won.)

Have a nice day.

I don't think so this time...The people who support Trump know he is not a professional debater like Cruz and maybe some of the others...We (I) are far more interested in what Trump says, not how he says it...
