Corey Jones was shot three times by an undercover police officer who never showed him a badge, attorneys for Jones' family said Thursday.

Jones' family and their attorneys met with the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office on Thursday to get more details about what happened when Jones was shot early Sunday while waiting with his broken-down car parked on an Interstate 95 exit ramp near PGA Boulevard.

The Jones family attorneys said they were told that the plain-clothed Palm Beach Gardens police officer fired six total shots while Jones never fired his gun.

I can’t help but be astounded by the dichotomy of the left’s position on CCW:

1. The libs and minorities are anti-RKBA because they rely exclusively on the govt and its agents to protect us.

2. They hate federal and local LE.

Perhaps there is an opportunity for an alliance here somewhere, where in this climate minorities are constantly being used by the liberal elite to disarm the law-abiding populace!!?

Disgraceful.

We have too damned many kinds of “murder”.

Either it was in self defense, an accident, or they should fry, period.

If I were on the side of the road at 3AM and some one approached me with a drawn weapon and didn’t identify themselves as a cop, I’d shoot them. Even if they did SAY they were a cop, these days that doesn’t cut it— they better holster that gun and show me a badge. This is an entirely preventable situation that borders on the criminally stupid on the part of the cop; he should have backed off and called for a uniformed officer.

Without knowing more about the situation, I tend to agree. Whatever happened at the moment of the shooting(and whether or not the officer was legally justified in shooting at that moment), the plainclothes officer never should have approached the guy.

This trigger happy out of uniform jackboot should do life without at hard labor with his pay sent to the victim’s family.

The police are evidently trained to be too aggressive in most cases and tend to get away with acting like a junkyard dog.

I find small town cops generally less likely to shoot impulsively perhaps because they are not so unknown/isolated from the community. It is easier to shoot a stranger.

The evidence will indubitably show that the officer identified himself as an officer before shooting the drummer. The evidence is, unless a yet unknown witness turns up, that the officer says or will say that he identified himself. In that part of the state police have a bit more leeway to shoot dogs and citizens for cause or for whim than in the northern part.

Way-way-wait. . . Benjamin Crump is involved. Sharpton is involved. Rent-a-mob and their signs are involved. If someone had a real beef with law enforcement, would he call those vermin? Those are the folks you bring when you have no cards.

I think Sharpton & Co. are attracted only to cases where the "victim" class party is lying, because it's more of a victory for their war on civilization to ride on a lie and win.

I will reserve judgment. But I've never seen Sharpton back someone who was in the right, and I'm inclined to think I can trust his record.

Somebody is lying here.

Either Jones did pull his gun and instigated an aggressive stance, or the “plain clothes officer” is a Murdering POS thug?

This story reeks like BS!

Agree 100%. A plainclothes policeman in an unmarked car should not have approached the guy. It appears no one else was around, just a broken down car and one guy. He could have sat back 50 yards in his car and called a police cruiser to come check out the situation.

No, if it had been the other way around, the media would not talk about it for a week.

You can bet that the “prosecutor” will find this murder “justifiable.”

No question about it. Plainclothes cop means no dash or body cam. The officer will swear he clearly identified himself and had to shoot in self defense. What is there to say otherwise?

As reliable, trustworthy and unbiased as the witnesses who saw Michael Brown shot with his hands up.

And the plainclothes officer who shot and killed him is a more reliable and trustworthy and unbiased witness? After all he has no reason to lie, does he?

That doesn’t sound like what happened here, and it’s a damn tragedy Criminal Negligence and manslaughter if this plain-clothes officer didn’t identify himself. I likely would’ve reacted the same way as the decedent.

Corrected it for you.

And are you saying there is no reason to? What if an innocent, law abiding citizen was killed by a police officer who did not follow procedures and identify himself? Wouldn't you agree that there is reason to be upset about that?

On both sides of the issue.

I don’t at all follow what you are saying. All I was saying is it looks like the police shot a person without cause and it is important to find out the truth about what happened. I also observed that the shooting will be used by the left to support irrelevant issues like gun control or to stoke ethnic tensions.

“What should be an inquiry into police misconduct will turn into a. . .”

To be accurate, should be: “What should be an inquiry into what happened.”
