Freedom Caucus coalesces behind Paul Ryan for Speaker.
You’d never guess this outcome by reading the comments on this site.

Then I guess the Freedom Caucus isn’t all that conservative.

I think Ryan is a good man and will be fair as Speaker. What really amazes me is all this bashing and hating going on against Ryan, as if those FReepers have been living on some other planet for the past few years. It seems to come as a shock to them that the House is not dominated by conservatives. What part of the single-digit congressional approval rating do they not understand?
Want more conservative congressmen? That’s what elections are for!

I have been hearing the exact opposite all evening.
I guess this is the government approved version.

Ryan rec'd 2/3 support from the Freedom Caucus
While the vote fell short of the four-fifths majority required for the Freedom Caucus to deliver its official endorsement, lawmakers said it did deliver the party unity that Mr. Ryan had set as a condition for accepting the position.
So, if the Freedom Caucus doesn't get to 4/5 and Ryan doesn't get their "offical endorsement", do the individual Freedom Caucus members vote however they want ? If so, what's the point of a caucus.
Ryan wants to go back to the Hastert rule, which is a good thing.

Disappointing. I hope the freedom caucus knows what it is doing.

Oh man!
Ryan has already worked to bring about amnesty. There is no getting around this.
Possibly even worse, he may well be going after a major alteration of parliamentary rules to keep the speakership from being challenged once seated, long established by Thomas Jefferson.
If this alteration had happened before now, the current House Speaker would not have stepped down or been challenged.
IF this happens, future house speakers will be more like kings than they already are.

The Freedom Caucus should be called the Enslavement Caucus.

So, voting for a Freedom Caucus member is kinda like voting for the Tea Party candidate, huh?
