With little luck in his quest for the Democratic presidential nomination so far, former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb is considering an independent bid in 2016, his campaign said Monday.

A press release entitled, "Jim Webb To Consider Independent Run" said the candidate will hold a press conference Tuesday "to discuss his candidacy, the campaign and his views of the political parties in the current election cycle."

Because being crushed in the Democratic race is never enough.

It sure seems weird. I’m trying to think of what kind of book would require including stuff like that. I can’t think of any.

A book written by Jim Webb. A low-rent Vladimir Nabokov with nary the talent. Perhaps writing his own sexual fantasies about little boys.

He sure doesn’t fit in with the Dems He is a Scoop Jackson democrat

Jim Webb harks back to the days when you didn't have to hate America or hate white people to be a Democrat.

Pretty much but like DJ just said on domestic democrat politics he’s been mostly on board

My thoughts of him as a Dixiecrat are erroneous

That’s right, Webb isn’t a Dixiecrat or a conservative. He’s simply an old-school, Harry Truman or JFK-style liberal, as opposed to a leftist radical like most contemporary Democrats. In other words, Webb only recently figured out that if you’re a patriot and don’t apologize for being white (Appalachian Scots-Irish in his case), and if you’re not ready to grovel at the feet of blacks and other “minorities”, the Democratic Party doesn’t want anything to do with you.

Some of those Dixiecrats were hardly conservative, just old-school New Deal liberals who happened to be against civil rights.

As for Harry Truman and JFK-style liberals, many of their goals have already been achieved, so it's hard to say what their old-time liberalism would mean today.

When people say that JFK would be a conservative or a Republican if he were around today (which I don't really think, if only because it would mean bucking the rest of the family), what would that make Webb?

He’s not “right wing”. He’s just to the right of the other Dhimmicrap candidates. He sounds like them on domestic policy.

Basically, he’s Scoop Jackson.

Some were pro-New Deal, some were against it. On the other hand, most Dixiecrats were solid supporters of state's rights and right to work laws.

If it is a 3 way contest Hillary - Marco - Jim, then I’m sorry but I cast my vote for Jim Webb- -He would be the least likely of the three to give us a massive amnesty of 20 million illegal immigrants.
