European nationalist parties are enjoying a worrying surge of support on the back of the continents migrant crisis, a development that has been largely overlooked. The rise of far-right parties in Europe like the Front National in France or Golden Dawn in Greece has been a major story over the last few years, but recent developments have received much less attention even though their gains have been more dramatic.

By the time he gained power they didn't have a choice.
And I would ask what choice they have today. They have an invasion forced upon them that will only end with violent overthrow.
I don’t see a single unified movement opposing immigration, I suspect there will be constant bickering, with some complaining one side doesn’t go far enough, others saying they go too far, etc. That’s the key, to unite the opposition.
You didn’t have to be a Nazi to think that the Versailles Treaty was wrong. But the Nazis were the ones who seized that issue and used it to achieve power.
Link isn’t working.
Just google Red Ice Radio. The first hour is always free.
Ya gotta remember to that they (globalists, leftists, elites, etc) are going to go full steam ahead to discredit any rational “right wing” movement.
I agree. But the overall dynamic in play led to the NAZIs taking power. Thats what’s happening here. I’m not saying that Europe ‘will’ suddenly sprout jackboots again, but they will rally behind anyone that rids them of their invaders. And that may lead to another NAZI type leader.
That said, it WILL result in a massive shift toward more dictatorial control because thats what history has repeatedly shown us over the millenia happens in Europe.
What’s different this time is that, when the Nazis took power, there weren’t millions of Jews in Germany to fight back, they were a relative small minority in Germany, IIRC about 500,000.
There are a lot more Muslims on European soil today, dislodging them will not be easy.
Nope. It’s gonna be a bloody mess and probably will take NAZI tactics before it’s over. And that’s a really scary thought. We saw what happened the last time that animal got let loose.
I have lived a total of 13 years in 5 European countries. What I have seen is the left and EU supporters demonizing anyone who expresses any nationalist views as the far right or skinheads or neo-Nazis. They raise the specter of Hitler to frighten and silence people.
There is not doubt that Hitler exploited the anger of the German people as a result of the harsh treatment by the Allies after WWI, the fall of the Wiemar Republic, and a worldwide Great Depression But I don't view what is happening in Europe today as analogous to the rise of the Nazis. Nationalism and Nazism are not synonymous.
Europeans have always been nationalistic. It explains that despite the many wars and conquering armies, the nations from Luxembourg to Germany have survived. In fact, we are seeing more nationalism as separatist movements are happening all over Europe. The Scots, Basques, Catalans, Waloons, etc. are seeking their own countries. The breakup of Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union have resulted in many more countries. The reasons are as varied as the countries. Tribalism exists all over the world including in Europe and the US.
The bottom line is that I disagree strongly with the notion that nationalism is an evil force that will spawn the likes of the Nazis. Language, culture, and borders still matter to the human animal. Political elites can not erase them save for genocide and ethnic cleansing.
AS I said, I am not saying NAZI2 is a foregone conclusion. But history is what it is. There will be blowback and dictatorships are on the horizon.
I see no reason to discount 2000 years of Euro history because we are ‘the modern man’. Everyone thought they were the modern man and above that until the horses rode, charriots clanked and tanks rolled across Europe too.
Nonsense. There will be no dictatorships as a result of nationalism. You are just perpetuating the propaganda of the Left who want to centralize power in Brussels and eliminate national sovereignty. The UK is having a vote in 2017 to determine whether they stay in the EU. The migrant crisis may cause many other countries to follow or at least renegotiate the EU founding documents.

You see gloom and doom. I see the people challenging the government and regaining control over their national destinies. The EU bureaucracy has become the real tyrant.
Well you are wrong about a lot of things. So be it.
People in Europe are also tired of Political Correctness.
Golden Dawn are flat out Nazis, and the Le Peniacs aren’t much better. Neither party is conservative.
Not surprising that they have a friend in Putin.
Worrying whom?
The European Right is NOT the American Right. They are very different and this could be bad news.
American conservatives are going to have to learn the differences and the dangers.
You mean how everything wrong with the world is the result of a Jewish conspiracy?
No thanks.
You think the European Right is all about opposing islam? Think again.
If not, the only sounds you will hear will be the sound of women being raped, museums being blown up, Christian and Jewish heads falling to the ground, and the call to prayer 5 times a day.
The European Right hates Jews more than it does moslems. Historically, they are pro-moslem. Allegedly, Hungary's Jobbik party is funded by Iran.
I have to admit there are some things, and not only that topic by any stretch, that I do say, "Holy crap, I can't believe he just said that".
I like hearing different ideas, history I had no idea about, etc. I had zero clue about the true story of South Africa prior to listening. Or that any of the stuff that is happening there is even happening.
