Donald Trump: I would have prevented 9/11
CNN ^ | 10/18/15 | Eric Bradner

Posted on 10/18/2015 8:46:12 AM PDT by jimbo123

Donald Trump says he's not blaming George W. Bush for 9/11, but he claims that if he'd been president, the attacks never would have happened.

In an appearance on "Fox News Sunday," the real estate mogul said that since he's "extremely, extremely tough on immigration" the attackers wouldn't have been in position to commandeer U.S. flights.

"So there's a good chance that those people would not have been in our country," Trump said.

He took another shot at Jeb Bush for claiming that Bush's brother, the 43rd president, kept the nation safe.

"I'm not blaming George Bush," Trump said. "But I don't want Jeb Bush to say, 'My brother kept us safe,' because September 11 was one of the worst days in the history of this country."

You say that the cost of going after illegals would dwarf Obamacare.

The cost of going after illegals individually, without bounties, would dwarf Obamacare. Think $100k per illegal multiplied by 30m people - about $3T. With a $1000 bounty per illegal, it would be about $30b.

Bush was just an innocent helpless by-stander when the Boston Marathon terrorist entered the U.S. during Bush's reign right Steve?

In fact, Bush is not responsible for tens of millions of others who entered illegally during war time, from God knows where. Right Steve?

Given the situation that Bush inherited on talking office, it is unlikely that he or Trump, or anyone else would have stopped them in that environment that existed at that time.

I guess Trump is serving notice that 7 1/2 months after he takes office, all the Obama damage will be rectified.

Better yet, even one minute after Trump takes office, is time technically "on Trump's watch".

Let's hold him to it.

Congress is not needed for most of it. They have already passed the laws. What we have been lacking has been a President who would actually use them. Clinton actually did a better job than W did.

jospehm20 was talking about going after visa overstayers individually (with la migra working more or less like private detectives trying to track them down) rather than the current approach of staging workplace raids. I said his approach would be way too costly and suggested that $1000 bounties would be a much more cost-effective way to do this, not that illegals shouldn’t be apprehended.

Trump would have gotten rid of that so-called Jamie Gorelick Wall written by that idiot bureaucrat.

Bush had 9 months to remove that prominent and stupid policy that was in place.

Btw, how does a president keep America safe, while aiding and abetting tens of millions to enter the United States illegally?

Enforcing the immigration laws

Fed government messing up from A to Z.

Trump is going to be the law and order President. I have no doubt about that.

And yet they were able to get on airplanes when they were illegally here. It seems to me like that could have been fairly easily prevented if anybody cared about it. At least one of the guys was on a terrorist watch list before 9-11 and was still allowed to get on a plane. Atta was even given final permission to stay in the US a couple of months after 9-11. The bottom line is that our immigration enforcement is/was broken beyond all belief and as far as I can tell, no real effort has been made to fix it. I mean what kind of unaware, brain dead moron signs off on a visa for Mohammed Atta shortly after 9-11? I am glad my tax dollars are being used for stuff like Obama phones and not enforcing immigration law.

So I guess the answer is just to let this illegal invasion continue, preemptively surrender to this horde of violent and lawless aliens who do not speak our language or respect our ways. They are here to plunder us but we should just let them stay and increase in number until they are the majority and rule over us, because it is just too expensive and time consuming to do anything about it!

If we had had this mindset during World War II, that fighting off a foreign invasion was just too expensive, the USA west of the Rockies would belong to Japan. But I guess you have no problem turning the USA west of the Rockies belong to Mexico, because it is just too darn costly to do something about it. Do I understand you correctly? Do you hate this country? Are you a traitor, a coward, or a fool, or all three?

It is an interesting to wonder if tougher immigration laws might have prevented or altered the attacks on 9/11.

The terrorists were well established in the US when GWB took office, earlier in same year.

Just a reminder Bush classified 28 pages from the 9/11 Report. 28 pages of embarrassment. A couple of Congressman read the report about 2 years ago. They didn't like what they saw:

- - - -

"9/11 Link To Saudi Arabia Is Topic Of 28 Redacted Pages In Government Report; Congressmen Push For Release "

But earlier this year, Reps. Walter B. Jones, R-N.C., and Stephen Lynch, D-Mass., were given access to the 28 redacted pages of the Joint Intelligence Committee Inquiry (JICI) of 9/11 issued in late 2002, which have been thought to hold some answers about the Saudi connection to the attack.

"I was absolutely shocked by what I read," Jones told International Business Times. "What was so surprising was that those whom we thought we could trust really disappointed me. I cannot go into it any more than that. I had to sign an oath that what I read had to remain confidential. But the information I read disappointed me greatly."

The public may soon also get to see these secret documents. Last week, Jones and Lynch introduced a resolution that urges President Obama to declassify the 28 pages, which were originally classified by President George W. Bush. It has never been fully explained why the pages were blacked out, but President Bush stated in 2003 that releasing the pages would violate national security.

While neither Jones nor Lynch would say just what is in the document, some of the information has leaked out over the years. A multitude of sources tell IBTimes, and numerous press reports over the years in Newsweek, the New York Times, CBS News and other media confirm, that the 28 pages in fact clearly portray that the Saudi government had at the very least an indirect role in supporting the terrorists responsible for the 9/11 attack. In addition, these classified pages clarify somewhat the links between the hijackers and at least one Saudi government worker living in San Diego. "

Of course tougher immigration laws would have prevented 911...they tried to take the world Trade Center down earlier with bombs. The logical escalation would have been planes, and these terrorists were training in our flights schools to steer, not land!

7 1/2 months, but yes your point still holds.

However, Trump needs to also mention the origins of the Gorelick wall and the wicked witch wife of the bent president who created it, and who is now running for president.

And Trump should also apologize for donating 100K to the corrupt Clinton Foundation, that funds terrorism.
